That would have meant two left footed Centre Backs and that would never happen.
It's not that he's bad in the position, though he shouldn't have been left on Jatte for their first goal, it's what we miss in Midfield with him being back there

I really don't buy this can't play two left footed centre halves theory (or right footed centre halves for that matter).
It doesn't seem to be a problem when a team plays two defensives midfielders, central midfielders or strikers... so I don't see why its a no no for centre halves.

It?s a complete myth and happens all the time. Ditto two right footed.

A lot of players don't use their other foot and stick to the dominant one instead these days. I was made to use both, which does add another arrow to your quiver. For a centre back, using both feet is a must for me because the ball can be cleared without juggling the ball from one foot to the other. To be honest, every player should practice using their weaker foot, as it will improve them as players.

Bobby Charlton was once asked how come he could score from 30 yards or more with either foot. He said he practised after training on his own (with the help of coach Murphy) every afternoon.
Who would have thought?

Or even a 3/4 with Lewis Gordon dropping off into his full back role when we haven't got the ball and then bombing on when we have.
