Don't be silly. He's plotting a path through 3 games in 8 days with several players wrapped in cotton wool. He's just said he couldn't field the same side as at Donny. Markanday, for example, injured. What would you have done?

I?m talking about Jacob?s playing well , he didn?t he I did nothing

Jacobs was fine, as he usually is when playing central, kept hold of the ball and played some decent passes, got into a few good positions and was part of most of our better play in the first half

Sadly some Town fans seem to have an agenda against him

Sadly, I think most clubs have fans like this. This internet thingy just gives them a bigger soap box

Message boards are like the online version of the section of fans who used to stand at the Compton Street/Kop corner of the ground constantly berating our left back (Jamie Hewitt/Chris Perkins) for being useless.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

Oldaker is playing very well so there needs to be someone else getting it in the neck. Jacobs, and increasingly Grimes, fit that bill. Though Boot will be looking over his shoulder too.

Couple of poor games recently for Boot. He looked all at sea yesterday and maybe could have done better for their second. I think we may see the Newcastle lad before too long.

You may be right, I don't think Boot is that comfortable in the sweeper role and I imagine that Cook wants that in the team (assuming new lad does that). He is pretty solid though, and was being lauded for his save at 2-0 on Saturday. There isn't much balance for some when it comes to making comments on players.

Fully agree Mark and as you know I am a Boot fan. He is looking shaky time for a change.

So what does he bring to the side. I will ask again but no one can provide an answer.

Why the need to single out players for criticism when things don?t go the way you expected? You had a go at Boot after the Cheltenham game (who went on to have a blinder at Donny) now Jacob?s who personally i thought had a decent game. It was a tough match yesterday that I?m sure most of us had predicated?another side that can be physical. I thought we stood up to Bromley?s tactics better than we did at Port Vale, albeit for a mistake that led to their equaliser. Who are you calling out for that? I suppose you will be posting another thread about it?

Jacobs is asked, I suspect, to keep things very simple by Cook in certain games. There are times when he appears to be on the periphery of the game but I think it's far more nuanced than some people can process. Can he do better? Yes. But he's never going to be flying into tackles or going on the outside down the line to whip a ball in and as ever, unless some people see things like that, they see very little.

I think that is spot on. I'd like him to influence games more and unless we have injuries I don't think he's going to feature that much this season but he's a clever footballer and he's playing a role.

Jacobs finished last season with just one less goal and assist than Colclough.

I understand that football isn?t just about stats (especially in Jacobs? case), but while we all agree that Colclough is a brilliant player, some seem less convinced about Jacobs.

What Jacobs brings to the team, better than anyone else, is his ability to play precise balls through a defensive line. I think some fans are unfairly comparing him to the likes of Dobra, Berry, or Colclough. His style of play is different?he?s not the type to put his head down and run at players, which may not make him as exciting to watch, but his vision and ability to execute key passes are second to none.

In fact, I sometimes think Dobra could take a leaf out of his book. After taking on a couple of players, playing a Jacobs-style through ball could really elevate his game and make him the complete package, in my opinion.

Jacobs may not be suited to every game, but he definitely has an important role in the team.

Another thread started by a clown hell bent on discrediting players & Cooks ability as a manager.

Think its similar to the old Allot\Niven thing where people were on Allots back because they saw Niven running about like a loon, flying into tackles normally because his first touch had been crap and deemed him to be giving 100% whereas Allot was cleverer than that and was one of those that you only noticed if he had a bad game. I think people see Colclough running a players etc, plus he has a catchy song for folk to sing, and he appears to do more than a Jacobs type player. Interesting that their output is more or less the same last season. I like Colclough and he will be a worry for defenders but his final cross\pass\shot could often be a lot better.

Do you think Coco is either still struggling or just not got up to speed yet

He has been immense for us since he has signed but there is something missing for me at the moment

He's not really got up and running this season, he's only started two games about 6 weeks apart then a couple of sub appearances off the back of his injury, illness and other stuff at the end of last season. That said even when he was fit and flying last season i still think his final end product could be a lot better at times.

You must live in some sort of parallel universe you utter clown, he was playing as the central player behind Griggs, he put one cross in but for the remainder naylor who was playing defensively was going past him, his legs have gone, he never linked up with Grigg all games, take off your jam jar bottom glasses, cook isn?t going to say he was crap is he

Not fit yet, constantly stretching and not tracking back as much as when he came
