The way we played on Saturday, Grimes would have had exactly the same distribution issues as Dunkley I reckon.
As an aside, noted that it was Naylor who brought the ball forward down the right hand side from the CB position into the attacking third until he switched to midfield. In the first half, his distribution and link up play weren?t great with a number of misplaced passes.
I think now we have more options in the wide areas and in midfield we can work on better retention of the ball in the attacking positions, and with the aforementioned switch of Naylor into midfield (or the introduction of Fleck) we can start to see some pressure taken off the CBs to be ball-players.

If you want a ball player it's Araujo you want. Him playing playing balls into Dobra and Colclough will be deadly. Teams often stand off Grimes because of his inconsistent distribution, like they did vs Dunkley on Sat.

I'd be miffed if he ain't back in midfield on Saturday and Araujo the CB (seeing as Grimes is well out of favour)
When he moved back into midfield on Saturday his drive made a big difference to our play. He's done brilliantly at the back, but he's needed in his usual position. For me, we either bring back Jamie Grimes, because he did really well when he played or we play the young lad from Fulham. Araujo, is going to be some player if he keeps developing going forward.

Like every other tactic, that can be turned to our advantage - all our CB has to do is to continue carrying the ball forward into opposition territory. If nobody comes forward to challenge, have a shot (we've conceded three goals like that already), if a challenge comes then pass into the gap created. My main criticism of Dunkley is that when he carries the ball out of defence he slows down or even stops, waves his arms around, making it clear he wants to pass, then gives it to the opposing team and moans at his own teammates. He should be told to keep going forward in those situations.

If we do, I'd really hope to be classy enough not to come on here and say (to some of you), "I told you so". But I'm not. I'm a skank from a mining town in Yorkshire. So ..... watch this space 😆

I've said since before the first game, that we'll get automatic promotion this season, and I also had a flutter on it at 8/1. Nothing so far has made me doubt that is exactly what we will achieve.
