I don't remember him playing bit before my time but heard great things and I'm a villa fan too so this is very sad

In that 80/81 season Gary Shaw and Peter Withe were a lethal strike force. Taken far too soon , R.I.P Gary.

As 1978Blue correctly stated his partnership with Peter Withe was superb and very important in winning the League in 80-81 ? ably supported by the ultra fast Tony Morley on the wing ? In retrospect Ipswich lost 7 of their last 10 games ? bottle job of all time ? but Villa were worthy exciting league winners , borne out by winning The European Cup in 82 ? which possibly makes Villa the only side to win a major competition during warfare directly involving this country

A real shame that he couldn't live to see his team return to the top level of European competition this week (whatever your thoughts may be on the comparison of Champions League to European Cup)
