The woodwork did all the saves for him.

Are you also suggesting we need a better striker? I'm glad we agree.

I never said we need a better striker. I said we needed to test the keeper more. In my opinion, and I?m sure it won?t be a popular view, our problem is Banks and DJ. Minimal fwd passes, slow the ball down and never ever get forward. (But every now and then hit a 40 yard ball) Many times yesterday they were picking the balls up at the centre back position and offering nothing forward. I would suggest the current duo is far weaker than Naylor/Jones from last year.

Forward passes to who? Our style is to play wide and stretch the defence. Who is this mythical player apparently completely open that we are ignoring up front? Banks and Oldaker are not the problem. Oldaker has been fantastic.
Guess I picked the wrong week to quit sniffing glue!

Thought the clip and the still on the Gillingham forum was more than conclusive - not over the line. The offside was another matter but you can't blame the referee for that, blame the assistant for that

The referee was pretty fair to us on the whole but marred by the ridiculous second yellow but that didn't lose us the match, our finishing did.

The ref was woeful with the time it took to restart play after professional fouls and throw ins by Gillingham who were obviously killing the game by time wasting.

No wonder our lads were getting frustrated.
God I hate this league.

🤣 I was raging! God knows how they were feeling!
I would have had my marching orders, a huge fine, lengthy ban for foul and abusive language towards an official and dismissed from the club.

I watched it on TV - you get a better view - ref was fine until the 94th minute.

Unless you were sat with the Gillingham fans that view couldn't have been optimal

He wasn't fine when it came to the positioning of his assistant for the free kick, very nieve. From the assistants position the decision could be nothing more than a guess.

Not sure it?s the refs job to tell the linesmen where to stand!! Don?t they always stand in line with the last defender?

Yep never seen an assistant stand anywhere but in line with the last defender.

I agree. Sheffield could never have been certain as he was at least 6 yards from the line (chuckle).

Maybe you haven't but have you seen the ref take up a position behind the defensive line near to the goal to cover both options? Common sense should have prevailed, the management of the free kick was poor. The benefit of hindsight ehh.

we were on the side and it looked over the line to us. There was a photographer at that end, probably from Town, you would think he would have a good pic of it. Also why did the ref allow the guy who was sent off 5 minutes treatment on the pitch? The incident was near the touchline and I reckon the guy moved further onto the pitch, even though he behaved like he had been hit by a bus. Meanwhile his team mates are all back getting instructions from the bench. I bet he plays again mid week.

We need to get some of the Gills physios in, sure enough the guy who was sent off on Saturday (Ehmer) after behaving like he had been hit by a bus started tonight for Gillingham.

Just a left field one. Did anyone hear the man of the match award announcement? I thought I heard they gave it to the 5 -- who was sent off with 30 minutes left!
Can't see it on their site.
