At least we didnt talk much about inflation going up to a higher rate than expected, nor about the seeming battle between Raynor and Reeves around who is in charge of taxes and spending... maybe this policy on WFA was rushed through to distract from all of the bad news?

A leader who doesn’t lead and stands for nothing and has no ideology is taking the Labour Party into the abyss.

His metropolitan elite bubble of advisors from the “progressive policy think tank” is who he listens to and these people must be so far removed from the day to day reality of life….. it’s astonishing to see what’s going on with labour Less than a year after a land slide victory.

Is that the real problem in politics in this country now? The parties only listen to these ideological think tanks and no longer listen to feed back from grass roots party members and members of the public?

I’d suspect it is.

Starmer and this government are the total epitome of the Metropolitan Elite.
Some of us saw it coming , some were, some are, still blind to it.

Raynor now saying migrants should have cuts to -

1) cuts to access for inversely credit

2) raising the fee for access to the nhs access

3) restrict access to state pensions

Another one who can’t read the public

Kinnock MK2 who’s gonna hand control to the right.

Who’s advising these people be a labour need to sack all of their advisory’s think tanks and go out and actually talk to voters and take on board what they think until they do that labour are done

Leaks asunder from labour now

Starmer is done. All sides of the party have done with him

14 years of crap tories and labour have done this in less than a year - Starmer has it seems achieved his aims of going harder and faster.

Unbelievably this is an official Labour Party release today. Gaslighting, or let’s call it what it actually is, p.ss taking of the British people.

Delivering for Britain…
Secure Borders, Cheaper bills, More jobs.
That’s what you’ll get with Labour.

And this at a time when illegal immigration is breaking calculators, bills are skyrocketing beyond the pockets of working people, inflation starting to rise and job hiring is falling at its highest level for four years. If this finally is a glimpse of the government that folk actually voted for then we really are up sh.te creek without a paddle. They are taking the p.ss out of all and sundry, particularly their core working class voter base. Metropolitan elitism at the highest level.
Day after day after day this Labour nightmare gets worse and worse and worse.

Yeah I look forward to that .. Omnipotence is just a few more years hence.

As for the WFA it’s going to be spun either way: Starmer is weak and gives in or Starmer listens to the people…. Same coin.

It was a mistake in the first place and I am pleased it's going to be reversed whichever way it spins.

What is it they say, at 30 I thought I knew everything, at 60 I realised I didnt and I still dont.

But I've certainly seen a lot more, experienced a lot more and viewed life through different lenses which definitely gives a different perspective. Losing my wife 10 years ago would be one part, fighting to keep a business in business as an FD was one part, looking at the world my grandkids have to grow up in another...

And from unexpectedly white Derbyshire to multicultural London, everything shapes your outlook... and obviously if you havent done it, it cant shape it...

(That includes voting to kill a final salary pension scheme to keep the company afloat in 2003... maybe that influenced me more than most!)

I recall that your wife sadly passed and am very sorry for your loss. I can't and don't want to imagine how hard that must have been.

What you need to accept is that plenty on here have also had as much and in some cases many more life experiences than you but don't feel the need to be patronising. I've worked all over the UK and abroad in various roles all for the benefit of my country but my political views on social justice and financial equality haven't changed one bit in the last 40 years, and from the calibre of his posts I doubt Josh will ever worship at the alter of mammon either...

I also see that you couldnt resist getting the P word in again too! You really do need to seek help about that....it's an obsession!

Considered post. I think my views have changed slightly over the last 10 years or so…but not to more to the Right as most seem to as their wealth improves. Instead I have moved to Left of centre on some things. I’m all for social justice, I’m not sure about financial equality though. I’m still a free marketeeer though 😂 if that’s worshipping Mamon I’m sorry 😂😂 (though with some constraints for fair play and national good).

Enjoy your day.

......thinking on, whilst illegal migration is a huge problem, currently unsolvable, the REAL long term problems will occur if the government has to admit that it has lost track of where they are.

Presumably the one positive about folk openly turning up on Kent beaches is that they are agreeing to be tracked and traced, and then monitored. Then one day, there might be a mass exodus.

Starmer needs to be put on the spot about whether there is an effective system in place and who is running it.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

It's a bit like Ukraine. The residents don't like the UK and Mauritius deciding their future without consultation, and 2 residents have taken the UK to court.

Regardless of the details and the truth of it all, Labour will take an absolute battering if their proposed deal goes ahead. In other news...

Net migration to UK down by half in 2024 compared with year before (unrelated to boat crossings, obvs)

https://www.theguard...ith-year-before

Quote

Net migration to the UK has nearly halved over the year to 431,000, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said, in figures which will bring some relief to Keir Starmer.

The drop from 860,000 in the year to December 2024 follows a series of policies implemented by the last Conservative government that have been continued by the present Labour government.

and numbers will drop further as visa applications have dropped big time: https://www.gov.uk/g...0August%202023.

I fully accept lots of people have lived experience that influences their views. It is a fact that young people see more black and white and less grey and experience reminds you that there is less cut and dried, right and wrong, and just shades depending on your beliefs.

So I wasn't being patronising, and apologise if that is what you think. Of course Goku does have a thing about old folk (but it might be a joke) so there is an element of relecting that back at him.

I think I am just as much a socialist now as I was when younger although now I have realised that how you raise the extra money to give to those who can't provide for themselves (and hopefully not so much for those who won't!) has big implications and now see more the challenges created by that.

The pension point was very tongue in cheek - although the reference to not being able to afford it so having to vote to kill it was quite pointed given the state of the UK govts finances and it still financing those schemes!

Enjoy Gran Canaria - Turkey for me in 8 days, can't wait!

As its net migration it maybe reflects the rush to leave Starmers Britain! Interesting that he may be deliberately wrecking the place so net migration figures move in his favour ;)

In general people don’t have problems with immigration- if it is managed and done sensibly to the benefit of the country.

What we have on the south coast is uncontrolled un vetted illegal immigration controlled not by government but by organised criminal gangs. And nothing is being done about it.

That is what is angering the public, restricting visa applications isn’t going to do anything about what is happening on the south coast.

Is Starmer so blind he can’t see that?
