I know these are only friendlies but we should be getting more out of them by now other than minutes in the legs. There looks like there are some glaring issues in that squad apart from a general malaise.

The proof will be in the pudding v Swindon I guess after what could be an another day chasing shadows against Derby.

We don?t have a friendly next weekend, any idea why? We should be ramping up as the season nears not having a weekend off (unless we do have one but it?s BCD?)

You can?t say anything that resembles anything like the truth on this board.

Seriously worried about how next season will pan out. I?m not saying we will go down, but we look a million miles off anything like a promotion challenging side.

Recruitment has been worrying and the lack of any outgoings shows there is no flexibility to mix the side up at all.

But you said the same things all last season. I have to wonder why you bother going at all

There was somebody claiming we had too many last week. Think we have chased the bucks rather than balanced preseason. One game in 15 days after Derby seems a bit lean. Hopefully they'll be a closed door game arranged.

I can't understand why we have gone for training/friendly matches against teams so far up the pyramid other than the for money

Not much different to last year, in fact probably a bigger differential and it worked out ok. We contested those games and we haven't so far. There is also a large gap between Wednesday evening and the start of the season though which seems unusual.

After watching England , I?m drawn to the fact we may also struggle with getting players in behind oppositions defence, I?m shocked we have not gone for this type of attacker, quihley is not good enough at this level , Grigg isn?t quick enough and madden prefers these days to find the pockets in front of defence

Well of the 2 games I've attended and 1 I've watch online I'm not remotely impressed compared to last preseason,we look slow and sloppy are we still hungover or in holiday mode still, I thought preseason was for building fitness and confidence going into the new season, we look to be doing neither at the moment, yes it's been better opposition in 2 games but we still have to perform, and as yet I've not seen anything that says to me were contenders this coming season.

Some proper drama queens on here. Seasons not even started, and doesn?t for 3 weeks, and the usual suspects are out slagging off the club and half the players.
Has pre season been phenomenal and we?ve held our own against much higher teams and steamrollered teams below us?.no.
Does it really matter?not really?..it would have been nice to have scored a couple admittedly but it really doesn?t mean anything.
My biggest takeaway from these friendlies is exactly that, we look like we?re playing friendlies and other teams aren?t.
If the intensity isn?t there in 3 weeks then I?d be worried?..otherwise pointless moaning by the usual bell ends

My take -
positive:
New right back trialist started as he left off at Alfreton - positive, aggressive, tenacious, likes to get fwd, well balanced - even if he gave the ball away on the attack
Banks coming on - as per Colclough, Berry.
Dunkley reads the game well and has that quality.

Negatives:
Still a little bit 'after the lord mayor's show.'
I'd like to see a bit more from the new left back and Madden.
No partner for Dunkley
Joe Q would be a great signing for Scunthorpe
Too much clutter in the squad.
We still have a soft underbelly.

I?m more concerned about the number of potential injuries we picked up today from some tasty blunt challenges

Muscle injuries. Nothing to do with any tackles

Don't really understand that comment. Are you suggesting we have gone backwards or that Sheff Yoo are much improved? I don't see it being the latter for sure.

Madden and Sheckleford the main ones today. Gordon and Palmer limped off too but DT saying not serious. Adding to Grimes in the week

I think the one on Palmer where he clattered his knee takes some beating
