Listening to 1866 for tonight?s match and it keeps playing music at random intervals. Just kicked into Sean Paul and The Saturdays. Ah just heard Phil Tooley say he had clicked a button by mistake. However it?s happened a few times during the commentary.

Unfortunately I was also tuned in between the OG on the tele. Let?s face it - it doesn?t bode well for the potential paying fans?

Depends who it is. Some clubs are clearly the 2nd/3rd side in their area.

but even if the respective BBC local radio station covers our match with commentary it will still only be able to be heard within the range of that stations local transmitters and not on the internet unlike the National League which were able to be broadcast over the internet

So, does every respective BBC local station pay to jump the firewall? If so, who do they pay?

Which seems strange as both BBC and local commercial stations give match day commentary of their teams without the need of a subscription.

BBC have matches on FM which can't be accessed online. Radio Sheffield has 6 teams in their area to cover, for instance on Friday night Sheffield United, Barnsley and we play from the area. I think RS sometimes have matches on DAB, but they aren't available online. It's been the same for years, I remember not being able to get RS on my radio and trying to listen online for it to say not available online 🤷

There will be selected Chesterfield games live on BBC Radio Sheffield's FM & DAB frequencies.
EFL hold the broadcast rights for the internet hence why you can't listen to BBC comms online (unless there is an agreement with the local club and it would also be behind a paywall), other than the FA Cup.

So, Donny V Town for example. What will be RS?s broadcasting plan? Will I get the choice of paying to listen to the BBC, 1866 Sport, and whatever Donny do? Or will RS butt out to help the 2 clubs?

That game will be live on BBC Radio Sheffield FM & DAB I would assume. Chesterfield and Doncaster Rovers will have their own audio facilities.

Yep, but as per your previous post, Radio Sheffield will need both clubs?s permission, which ought to be rejected to give them maximum revenue?

I'm going assume that an agreement has already been reached for the forthcoming campaign. (I'm not in charge of making the arrangements).

Sky is transmitting the game to Turkey. So I assume your Sky+ subscription will work okay on your Sky app.

I understand, so thanks.
It?s as clear as mud to me. From what I?m reading, on that occasion Town fans will have the option of tuning in to Radio Sheffield for nowt, or paying for 1866.

Sky app doesn?t work abroad so you need a vpn to make it look like you?re in the UK for any Sky streaming to work.

It just gives you an IP address of a different location to 'trick' the system. I got one last year on a free trial to watch the Ashes on SkyGo in Greece.

If you can receive the local Radio stations broadcast you can listen for free. If you want to listen online you will have to pay via the CFC website.

The BBC are not allowed to broadcast the games over the internet.
