Midfield. I am fearful for our lack of pace in there and a player cho can cover ground quickly. I would like to think akinola could be that terrier type player but I have a feeling he will be on the edges and then be released at the end of the year. Berry last night was poor. He certainly looks a different player coming on with 20 left as opposed to the start. I?m also not sure about him on the left. He is so right footed he struggles to take players on down the touchline. I would like to see him start on the right and take players on with his pace and then stick the ball across. When Colclough doesn?t play we lack that balance (a bit like England). As for up top, quigley showed a lovely touch for the goal however again showed why perhaps we need to find an upgrade. Finally, the new back three look very promising and dunkley in particular looks a fantastic acquisition

Totally agree, had one of his best games for us last night, following on from a good performance by him Saturday. I was critical of him in parts last season but so far, he?s been excellent.

On Berry, he looked like he was struggling with the level that Derby were playing at, he looked a little out of his depth and the full back kept him under wraps. To be fair to him, he was playing at level 6 or 7 just over a year ago and he admitted how hard it was to step up when he joined us. I think he needs to keep working and keep learning but when everyone else is available I think he?s a player to come off the bench, not as a starter.

I always think you can tell quite a bit about a player by his body language, and a couple of times last night Berry made frustrated, shrugging-type gestures when things didn't happen, on one occasion losing his man as a result before chasing back. He's a really talented lad and I'm sure his attitude is fine but he needs to remember that there is no such thing as 'having a bad day'. I'm sure he can be a real threat in League Two.

Something I mentioned to the missus when I got home, yes.
I'm taking my 5-year-old to Crewe. She will not be flicking wanks. She wanted to go last night but I'm glad I didn't as, though I liked safe standing, it would have been a nightmare trying to keep her safe and under control.

Don't want to make my first post about the match a negative bearing in mind as a team we put a decent shift in and gave them a good game... but I thought Berry was the standout woeful player on the pitch. He barely tried to take Nyambe on and when he did, he didn't do it successfully. His attitude stunk too, waving his arms about at teammates when he was making mistakes. Should've been brought off sooner and I hope he doesn't start against Crewe.
Thought Oldaker, Dunkley and Dobra were all brilliant though. Oh and Hobson showed some fantastic touches.

We have plenty of depth, but not so sure we have quality within it. We definitely need a CB (get Naylor back in CDM), a Keeper (playing with fire not having one on the bench) and a Striker (Our plan B being Quigley is just not good enough - as much as I like him and he runs his bollox off)
Thought we looked really good in spells last night, kept the ball nicely, moved it around and looked like the better side in spells. The absolute flip of that is I think we really tired and got sloppy in the 2nd half, gave it away a lot - DJ, Grimes, Banks, Berry, Quigley all culpable at times.
Thought they were there for the taking, but we didn't really push on late in the game with all the fresh legs and pace on the pitch - last 15/20 slightly underwhelming as a result, but like I said, I think we were cooked - suprised Dobra, Gordon etc lasted 90 mins as they ran themselves into the ground.
Dunkley - looks a cracking signing, what a player, and a serious leader as well. Full fullbacks look quality acquisitions - classy players.
Hobson - contender for man of the match - wanted the ball, wanted to have a go, came close a couple of times. Very different to Berry who looked down on confidence, didn't want to get at their RB at all, and gave the ball away far too much. Maybe he is just a better impact sub against tiring fullbacks who he has more confidence he can beat.
Won't read too much into it as Derby are a level above us, albeit I think they will struggle this season.
Support was fab too, I know it's not far and it was ?10 a ticket, but it was really good. Hopefully more of the same at Crewe.

Derby.
For all their shortcomings still an outfit two tiers above us.
And PC clearly used a low key competition as an opportunity to field fringe players.
Some of whom did better than others, which is kinda what happens every week.
So a novelty evening out for our fans, but can't feel anything other than 'Meh' over the scoreline.
Our only priority this season is re-establishing ourselves as an EFL club, nothing more or less...
Hear, hear.
Well said, Chris.

It's a good job as it gave the 100 or so Derby lads some people to glare at and pretend to be angry with.

Looked no older than 3/4 to me. Probably get a 5am door knock for incitement to riot.
