If you're trying to play in a 20yd corridor across the pitch, you're bound to lose the ball. Rice and Trent were playing as auxiliary centre backs, their talents wasted and in the process we give ground. Awful game and really not good enough.

There was plenty of quality out on that pitch tonight. They have the desire,grit and knowledge to get them through a game on a much higher level than we've just seen.
If and when the manager resigns, we'll end up with a clone of Southgate.

Fitness of players questioned, he said 'we knew we had problems before we started'. Look out for a litany about how a long domestic season has contributed to the players fitness and form nonsense if knocked out first game out of the group stages.

If he's going to blame games played during the season then he should give his head a wobble. They're rotated throughout the season now. Have we actually got a left back in the squad who's actually fit, because obviously Shaw isn't. I know Joe Gomez can play anywhere across the back but surely he hasn't come with just Shaw. Denmark didn't need a right back tonight because nothing occurred on that side of the pitch once again.
Can we play better with that starting eleven, yep most definitely, but the defence and the two holding midfielders need to move up the pitch a further 10yds, and we need to move the ball faster. Kane needs to stay up top to give that outlet too. It won't happen though.

Then again, if a player is as talented as some would believe he should be able to pass to a teammate with accuracy.

If we are honest, we might have been the best team in the opening minutes up to when we scored but we created very few chances in that period.

Mindset, or management, after we grab the lead seems to slow the game down even further, drop back even deeper, make 3 or 4 passes when one quick and precise would have been much better. Even when 3 so called players with pace were introduced there was no urgency to get the ball to them quickly so that they could stretch their defence. It?s no use waiting until every player with pace is being marked by 2 or more defenders.

Very disappointing. We can?t get worse. Can we?

This is more like a game of footie - Spain vs Italy. More attacking, flare and entertainment in the first 5 mins than both of England's games.
Shocking really as we have some of the better players in the tournament. I cringe at Southgate's tactical negativity

I didn't realise Mike Jones was Danish - had the 23 shirt on, playing further forward. A good workout for next season.
