Jordan Bowery with the short back pass to gift MK the goal 😂

This is a perfect example of why not to post smug comments until the final whistle.

Awful from us again btw. Let’s not read too much into it regarding next season etc , it’s clearly a case of already being on the beach but it’s still not acceptable, people have paid their money. At least look bothered.

Same logic applies. Plus if they don’t they’ll end up coming anyway and spend more.

Let’s be honest here, we’ve been absolutely dire since the end of February. Fortunately for us, Barnet and Bromley were dire between the New Year and end of February so we managed to get far enough clear.
This end to the season is a little embarrassing and unprofessional though.
A team of champions that has rested / hasn’t played for 2 weeks against a team of part timers in the bottom 4 who have played 4 games in a week.
There should only ever be one winner there.

Absolutely agree with all this, and I am not a drama queen or an idiot, though all those who have given time and money to travel all the way down there today are being treated as idiots,I am a lifetime supporter who is struggling to describe how I feel post Boring Wood with regard to performance and commitment after such an outstanding season. No matter how I look at it,it does not feel right to be ending the season this way.

I've never known a manager go on holiday with three games to go,the players are doing the Same **** it attitude.

Don't blame pc tbh. Job done, objective achieved. He will be a very busy man in a few weeks so take a break now and get working on next season as soon as the last game played.

Totally agree, although the aim was promotion and that has been achieved , the Boreham Wood game apart we have been awful for best parts of the last 9-10 games and this is taking the gloss of a fantastic season

Let’s not forget Wealdstone have part time players with jobs, they’ve played 3-4 games with todays and we can’t score !!!

It would be a sorry state of affairs to lose against Maidenhead.
God I hate this league.

“Them” being the Champions?

Quigley in double figures…

Whilst it’s been poor let’s not get too carried away…

Don't dignify his pointless repetition with a response.

The character once banned for his victim blaming support for an alleged nonce case.

Also remembering it was his hero who paid a significant six figure sum for someone Cook turned into a promotion winning front man in the first place.

That said the thousand or more who made the journey today, alongside the countless thousands who've supported Town over the course of the season, have every right to ask why players who've won after often changing half the side now lose to four-games-in-seven-days part timers.

And after such unconvincing results since taking a twenty plus point lead.

We can only hope this has taught the Manager a few harsh lessons. Who he can and can't rely on. Who did and didn't deserve his faith. Who will and won't be here next season.

It's teeth grindingly agonising to finish like this - but far better to do so than start like it...
Never underestimate the stupidity of people

I don’t care what people say about looking at the whole season in context, job done etc. etc.
Today was ( again ) pathetic.
You would have thought Wealdstone would be worn out by the second half but we couldn’t manage one shot on goal.
Pass pass pass is fine but there was no final ball.
Plus we actually got away with a couple of through balls in the first half.
The home lot must have gone home thinking how did we manage to win the league.
Bah !!

…before we got sussed out. I sincerely hope they’re competent but I must admit I’m not confident. Surely it makes sense to « change » your tactics when the league was won…time to work on next year perhaps… but no personally I see no change throughout the season until now….time wasted if you’re correct

Then again, until very very recently posters were saying how strong our squad was. Now that it’s been somewhat depleted the fringe players are being given their chance whilst the management have the opportunity to decide whether or not any of them deserve an extension to their contracts. This is their last chance to assess them and to confirm what is needed to improve the squad for next season.

There was a time, not long ago, that posters were saying this squad is good enough to compete at the top end of L2. Probably now they have changed their minds. It has to be remembered that in L2 we have to cope with injuries as we can’t bring players in throughout the season. We can only have 22 outfield players over the age of 21 so they all need to be able to step in and perform as and when required. Currently, our fringe players are struggling to do that at NL level and some of our more experienced regulars are showing they cannot cope without the mainstays of the team. Logically, a lot is being learned about individual players a present.

However, surely, the work on next season is well under way with targets identified with a view to plugging the deficiencies within the current squad so I don’t see it as time wasted. I do see the poor end to the season as being very disappointing though.

It would be nice for the team to actually play with the pride that comes with being a champion instead of playing like a set of pussies, cant be doing with some of the lilly livered comments on here , like the old motivating comment on the wall at the boxing gym used to say winners never quit and quitters never win.

So the club would be better off if people are put off buying season tickets because they’d come anyway?

Not that I believe that ST sales will drop significantly because of recent performances but that is truly baffling logic - do you ever wonder why clubs push season tickets so hard?

I believe attitude if a major factor here too.
If today's game was a winner takes all, that starting 11, I believe, would have won easily.
As it was a dead rubber, it got the dead rubber treatment and that should not be allowed in my book

last 12 games

won 4
drawn 2
lost 6

scored 25
conceded 23

its also interesting looking at the number of changes to the starting side. of the last 12 games, look at how many players have started the games

Tyrer 10/12
Sheckleford 6
Clements 5
Grimes 11
Williams 3
Oldaker 6
Naylor 11
Jacobs 6
Banks 8
Mandeville 9
Grigg 6
Horton 7
Dobra 9
Palmer 9
Jones 6
Quigley 6
King 5
Berry 2
Hobson 3
Colclough 1
Boot 2
Freckleton 1

Large amount of chopping and changing. Only the following players have started 4 or more games consecutively in this period:

Tyrer
Grimes
Palmer
Naylor
Dobra
Quigley
King

Apparently we have some big events happening at the final game to entertain the punters.

Hopefully it will involve a decent team selection and performance.
