Well, as expected, I'm afraid. Players on beach. I've decorated the whole kitchen without a care and seen this - first time I've avoided a game for years. We're up, players losing to basically a knackered bunch of part-timers. It gives one a bad feeling, a couldn't care attitude. Cards on table. This mentally needs to stop and not be carried over next season or we could be in trouble. i doubt things are not happening behind the scenes but, to be frank, some of these players should never play for chesterfield again. I'm sure 2 or 3 'quality' signings will sort things but I know Chesterfield fans want to see graft, effort and a commitment to the cause. Whoever they are, players won't be afforded any footballing empathy from the fans forever.

Better find another room to decorate on Monday night.

Anyway what can you expect, the weekend bender the other week signalled the end of the season, bless em

Let's face it, objective achieved and players have their flip flops on already. They don't care about 100 points

Agreed.
That’s very unprofessional though.
They also clearly don’t care about the fans putting the effort in to go either.

Just goes to show how fortunate we were that Grigg didn’t get injured any sooner.
Without him we are clueless in the opponents box.

Perhaps a little more complicated than that

I fear quite a few will have been put off buying season tickets with recent performances, I hope I’m wrong.

perhaps in hindsight allowing them to have a saturday night and sunday session wasnt the best idea with 5 games left.

The experienced players are fairly likely to be unaffected by the dip in quality. They are likely to have seen the good, the bad and the ugly on a football pitch before. Whilst they'll need to get back into gear for next season, they should have no problem in doing so. Whether it's with us or with someone else.

The situation with our less experienced and younger players may be a different story. We saw Freckleton have what looked like a really tricky period just before he was taken off the other day. Berry looks a less confident player than previously. As to whether or not some of the seasoned pros are on the beach I don't know. What I think that I do know is that this poor run of form and these poor performances are not helping our younger players one bit. The older heads who may or may not be here next season ought to think on that before Saturday.

Tbh with the right tactics I think the CH’s would get away with it next season even though I think we need an addition with more pace. Time and time again we’ve been caught on the break with everyone especially the backs too far forward. Some serious re-thinking is required next year about how we approach a game. In 75 % of a season in the NL you can get away with the same tactics but next year it’s a bit more serious and we’ll be punished unless the coaching team and manager change how we want to play. The question is: are they capable? Answers on a postcard. Well at least it will keep the board lively during the break 😄😄😄

Well, Cook has won promotions at L2 level before so I would think he should realise that the defence needs to be tightened up. We have conceded far too many goals at NL level this season and won promotion by out scoring the opposition. Forwards in L2 will be sharper than those at NL level too and are unlikely to miss the number of good chances that have gone begging this season.

As such, we have to trust that the management know what’s required and try and make sure they resolve the issues we have.

Other than that I really do think we should not be losing game after game now after winning the league so comfortably.

Happy with the showings over the last 3 games then?
Full commitment to the fans?
Totally professional?

No not really. I’ve not been happy for longer than that with recent performances to be honest. However, I’ll tell you what I am happy about and that’s the sheer ruthlessness, professionalism and quality management that saw us win the league by the end of January. Unprecedented.
Are we the first team to take our foot off the gas post winning promotion ? Not by a very long chalk. We won’t be the last either.
Am I confident that Cook ( arguably one of the most successful managers ever outside the top division and who was probably forgotten more about football than most of you knee jerk keyboard warriors will ever know) will assemble a quality and competitive squad for next season. Absolutely.
Get a dictionary out and look at the definition of the word ‘context’.

Yeah. It’s like we’ve won promotion the ‘wrong’ way….

Not bothered about this points record but I am bothered about performances.
Players owe it to the paying & travelling fans to put on a show.
The problems are now that if the players think they can 'down tools' because there is nowt to player for, this form can be hard to shake and carry over to next season.
Hypothetically, if we start poorly, hanging around mid table / bottom half, it looks like this set of players could switch off the effort and we could end up in a relegation scrap...and we know how us fans can quickly turn on the players.
If the feel good factor drains away due to continued poor performances the place will empty and those fans left will boo the players off the pitch next season. They can't keep dining out on the Championship. It's fickle but it's fact.
I dare say the season tickets will save the attendance figures next season, but if we had whipped the whipping boys at the bottom of the table over the last months, it could have flogged a fair few more - that's a business angle too

Anyone who bases their desire to buy a season ticket off recent performances would be better off not bothering anyway.

Kieron Dyer said we will not be playing with 7 up front and 3 back in League Two as we have in the NL. In case you hadn’t noticed it’s worked perfectly fine in this league. The management are not stupid- panic not.

No point coming on here and posting perfectly lucid common sense statements. It just confuses em.

Two ways to go after winning the league comfortably. You could ride the crest of a wave and be buoyed up to play the game you love even better - or you can pack up, forget about your loyal support and take an early holiday.
No prizes.

…before we got sussed out. I sincerely hope they’re competent but I must admit I’m not confident. Surely it makes sense to « change » your tactics when the league was won…time to work on next year perhaps… but no personally I see no change throughout the season until now….time wasted if you’re correct

Incorrect. If you make a decision to buy based off last few games and not the previous 30 plus it shows you know nowt anyroad. So save thee money.

Same logic applies. Plus if they don’t they’ll end up coming anyway and spend more.
