Who incidentally, was at the game yesterday, sat in the West Stand amongst a few other scouts/analists.

Shook his hand and called him a legend lol

It wouldn't be the first time.
I have no idea what Cook's long term ambitions are, though I hope the Kirks have.
My suggestion is based on the fact that I still have an uneasy feeling that there's a gap in the structure between CFC Manager and Trust CEO.

Did you watch the interview with the Kirk brothers in the ITV prematch buildup?

I suspect the Trust CEO is a marginal figure and the Kirks are happy for him to front the operation.

Incidentally maybe, nice animated advertising boards - thought a pack of giant sausage dogs had invaded the pitch at first

Best cup quality I've seen since we beat Scunthorpe 2 nil in, I think, 2015.

Best I've seen Mandeville play. If I hadn't witnessed it with my own eyes I'd never have believed that such an improvement was possible. Shows waht I know. This was a guy that couldn't run, couldn't use his left foot, couldn't tackle, and miscued his shots and headers. Except on the odd occasion when a ray of talent shone through to force a 'there's a player in there somewhere' observation. The transformation into a top RB is astounding.

A few words of praise also to the North West corner who made a hell of a racket, and to the groundsman who somehow managed to get the grass cut and looking immaculate despite the weather.

All in all, a day to remember.

Also in W7 yesterday. It does make a difference to the atmosphere in the ground when it’s lively in there. They were brilliant yesterday we definitely need to exploit this vocal support more as I feel it lifts the players.
In my view as a veteran of football it’s only natural to stand during a game for many

Tbey looked no better than we play most weeks had very little threat or even pace.
It’s a good job we rested Colclough as both their full backs were truly awful

Had a good chat with Ryan after the game yesterday at the Butchers in Brim.

He's champing at the bit to start, after getting rested against Kettering, he's desperate to get his starting place back but understands its about performing and those in front of him are doing the business currently.

Says the morale amongst the squad is the best he's ever known and they never believe they will be beaten.

He comes across as a great lad, grounded, humble and speaks highly of Cookie for "giving him another chance". Says he's very happy here, has bought a house (a bit too close to the Notts border for me but we'll let him off!)

He did mentioned that Saunders tried to bring him to Town but Crewe rejected our offer (could have been Saunders only real decent permanent signing for us had he joined! lol)

You should have asked him about his hamstrings. Never known a player need so many stretches so soon after starting or joining a game.
Not that stops him in any way. Hopefully he will start on Saturday, but goodness knows who makes way for him.

The advertising boards came with ITV and were being taken back down after the game.

Putting 2 and 2 together I'm guessing that, on paper, Cook's contract is up at the end of the season. We are heading for a crucial period in which the Kirk bothers will need to demonstrate that their professionalism has transformed the Board. They have to get the planning and controls tight and right. Whether it's structural change, consolidation, financial speculation, whatever, it has to be spot on. I have every confidence that it will be.

One way to keep Cooky might be to give him more responsibility.

You have no idea how long PC's contract is but you've managed to put 2 + 2 together and decided it's up soon and so decided to advise the Kirk bros on how to run the club.
Good post.

I did!

No issue he says, just part of his ritual and habit. (whether that was true or not I don't know lol)

I didn't advise the Kirks to do anything except a good job. If Cook has a 5 year contract I'm surprised but delighted. The Kirks still have to do a good job, starting very soon.

Used to work with loads of Pompey fans, some disliked him, others hated him. Had a clique around that nobody was partial to as well.

Probably quite well off as his business thrived due to the publicity. Noticed the never showed him on TV, perhaps the media are just tired of him

I've been told a few things about him none of it good, still got friends and family in Pompey.

Ash palmer my mom simply superb.***** stars

Yes he had a good game but he was against less mobile opposition albeit from a higher division. He’s shown his weakness this season against faster attackers but I guess he’s working on his pace in training. Still would put Williams in front of him as soon as fit

Just can't understand why people are posting negative comments after a great day
PC has transformed the club he has used a lot of common sense to bring some good players into the club
Naylor for instance is a great signing reminds me of the great Robbo good awareness and always popping up at the right time to score
The performance yesterday would have pleased JD for the way we kept our shape defensively

Love that. I've heard Dobra is working on his height in training too.

Not sure if you’re referring to my post as it followed straight after. It’s not negative, just a fact based on previous games. Too easy to fall into the unbeatable mode when we need to keep on our toes.
No team is the same whatever division they play in and we’ve got to be aware of this on Saturday
