Another town fan that either doesn’t go or sits there with eyes closed.

Grigg is a very intelligent player, works hard, movement etc is on another level. We just don’t have the players to get the ball into the box for him. And the ones we do have are the type that like to create chances for themselves (not saying this is always a bad thing)

Probably Griggs best game for us so far, he won’t score a hatful playing like we do, but he offers a lot in other areas.

Should have scored at the back post though

Agree with every point.

Honestly some of the folk on here I’d rather just not bother turn up. Same folk that sit moaning ‘GERRIT FORRAD’ when we’re being patient with our play and waiting for an opportunity. Literally happened with someone today behind me in the exact phase of play colclough got one back. “GET IT IN THE BOX AND STOP FANNYING ABOUT”, they cried, as Jones had the ball in the centre of the field 40-yards out.

Thick as two short planks. How half of them coped when we had Caldwell and Sheridan (second time) etc at the helm I’ll never know.

Mate i had a conversation with you at half time but all this talk of dragging players out of position due to Intelligent running is baloney,it was 80 minutes till he dropped off and came deep,he must have had less than 20 touches in the game ,now I'd love to be proved wrong but I wasnt wrong about bringing the superb Jones back and I wasn't wrong about colclough being a left sided player he is class but grigg is a passenger the rest of the front 4 are carrying him

Yep. On Grigg that's exactly what I saw as well.

Everyone was asking for Jones’ return, and everyone knows that Colclough is a left sided player - those statements weren’t exactly a Newton moment of enlightenment from your grand and superior wisdom.
Most who have eyes can see what Grigg is bringing to the team. He should have scored yesterday but other than that his movement was excellent and continually created space for others.
Do you really think a team who have already scored 15 goals, and are the joint top scorers in the league, could do that ‘carrying’ one of their main attackers who’s offering ‘sweet fa’?

I understand what the other guy feels. It's frustration. Waiting for the perfect pass or perfect opening that may or may not happen. They best way to score goals is inside the penalty box and we have been guilty of not going there in the past. So yes, I get it and we need to be more like 2nd half yesterday with driving runs forward.

Reading this thread, I can’t understand why OPTA don’t have a stat on ‘movement.’

So the fans knew but the manager didn't.

The ideal game play is a combo of both possession football with meaningful attack. That's what we did for 80min yesterday and what we haven't done to yesterday's standard this season and quite a bit of last season too.
People shouting to get it in the box at Jones (at a guess) didn't want him to ping a hopeful ball down the middle, just to drive forward and get others involved as apposed to the 'usual' sideways backwards triangle and momentum breaking down/ eventually losing possession and on the back foot.
Yesterday's 80 min performance- one of the best I've every seen, unplayable as a team at times

Y’kinda knew what he meant though…

He feels, given his past experience, he should be doing better. Just in case you really didn’t ..

It was a fabulous afternoon’s display-but as usual Webb reiterates fans concerns at our ponderous build up at times:
“ but sometimes if we keep the ball better, if we penetrate with passes when we should, shoot when we should, cross when we should, make good decisions in their half……..”

blimey hell, this thread is nearly as pathetic as the constant moaning at Grimes for not hoofing it forward quick enough and instead keeping possession!

Grigg hasn’t had much chance to show what he can do yet, should have scored from Berry’s (who was excellent) cross but other than that had little service, but a thread dedicated to him already with plenty of people writing him off based on 5 games is ridiculous

Are you surprised tho? We had people on here during the game asking how many games we should give cook if we lost yesterday 😂

It ain’t perfect by a long stretch , defensively we’ve looked poor, players need to take responsibility but it’s on Paul cook and his coaching staff to find a better balance (although after about 20 minutes I thought it was our best performance defensively all season) and going forward we need to play with the same intensity as yesterday , even tho we controlled 60 odd minutes against altrincham we didn’t go for the jugular and it just invites pressure and it cost us.

Grigg will be fine. If we play like we did yesterday most weeks , he will get chances and hopefully take a good chunk of them.

Think people just need to settle down. We are 6 games in ffs. It was never going to be easy. It’s a very long hard season down here.

What about the poor jump for the header a taller striker who have buried that

Jo Quigley is a lot taller and he doesn't score many with his head and the one he did this season was 3 foot off the floor.
