22 goals for Grigg in Feb, 21 league, 1 in the cup. Not bad going! Agree we need another striker next season to offer something different, though. Quigley's obviously played an excellent role primarily off the bench this year, but I have doubts over his effectiveness in League 2.

We likely need another striker if only for the fact we only have the two windows to sign players unlike this season. Pretty sure had Grigg or Quigley had a lengthy absence this season another one would have come in but we've been fortunate that we've not needed to do that.

We’ve been fortunate that we haven’t needed to bring in any cover for any position on the pitch. We’ve even been able to loan players out to play games.

We’ve been lucky with injuries and have not had to carry any long term absentees like Clarke, Asante & Rowe. Long may that continue.

Next season could be a different proposition so the squad will have to be assembled accordingly. One or two players under 21 might be useful additions to bolster the squad but I do agree that a third striker different in style to what we already have ought to be on the wanted list.

After the injury problems in previous seasons I think it is fair to say we were more than due a less problematic period, which hopefully will continue.Having said that, the few injuries we have had,the players concerned have been missed IMO.

Did Jack, my favourite Town player in all my years, have pace ? If he did I must have missed it. Jack or Grigg ? Jack all day long for me , but Grigg has been superb, and may have been better than Jack at his peak at a higher level.
Grigg has the class to still be a real asset in League 2 .

No lester did not have pace but his ability with the ball was something else,if he had pace he would have been premier league class,he could take a player on,dribble, head a ball and score from anywhere, technically the best forward we have ever had.
My worry is this league is absolutely dire we do need fresher legs next season its going to be much harder against better quicker defences

CPS is actually a good conversation starter, he doesn’t even believe the tripe he comes out with it’s just to be controversial but it adds to the board to be fair to him.

I have absolutely no problem with Griggs superb goals tally, mission acomplished,i could not care if some were own goals or grimes goals as long as we get out this stinking league, but anybody who thinks we dont need a younger bigger no1 striker must be straight jacket material,Griggs pace has gone,he will be an assett for the next two years doing what he did last night ,coming on as sub,we need a striker, who makes defenders back off a striker who can come deep and occasionaly turn and carry the ball like Lester did ( he would be on 50 in this league),we have our poacher,we need a proper focal point for next year,it will be much harder.

I don’t think your -observations are clinical enough. Grigg’s not a 100 metre sprinter, but acceleration off the mark is what he’s got, and always has had.

Wor I’d like to know is whether our position gives us a real advantage as the transfer deadline approaches. Is it better to pounce then or wait until the close season?

Sounds like a desperate attempt at justifying original comments about Grigg and failing

Give over,Doyle was a willing runner a great player in this formation, but to think he was better with the ball at his feet is wrong, lester was a genius ,left right foot header, fei ts dribbles,we wont see the like again.

Then he would have had a longer career at a higher level than Jack had which he didn’t.

Yes, with added comments of 'you need a straight jacket...' or '...you need jam jar glasses' if you don't agree with what I've said or see things the way I do.
It suggests Bonnyman can be a tad self-opinionated and not particularly up for debate... shame really given this is a forum for debate.
I don't disagree we need different options though.

Yeah, that would be ideal

Unfortunately anyone decent with height and pace who can score goals probably plays higher than L2

Will be an interesting off season
