I'm with you on that.
Chat is that Dobra might fly the nest ( been mention as a rumour on and off for ages). If so, fair game - we'll get a fee for him and others can step in without upsetting the apple cart - Jacobs / Berry. - prob Jacobs ad senior pro.
That's football. Players come and go. As long as we have back up - which we do - I'm fine with it.
* think we had a period where we didn't have Dobs available and did just fine

He’s only 21 ish so it will take a heavy bid for us to agree and weigh that up against promotion

I feel he ain't going to sign a contract here. I think if he had intentions to, he would have done it by now. He must have been one of the first to be offered improved terms.
So, we get to the point of do we cash in and sell Dobra or keep him til the end of the season and he goes for nothing.
Me personally, if it comes to it, I'd sell.
Cash in and use who we have in the squad. I think we have enough depth and quality to do it.
We could even use some of the money to invest even further on new players to develop.
Albeit we crave success, we are also a business which needs to stay afloat. Part of that is selling player(s) / developing players which can be sold.

Depends if the £50/100k is important
I reckon we are a weaker squad minus Dobs, so for little return he can stay
He may well be waiting to see what division we are playing in next season, the lad is giving his all and while that continues he should carry on playing irrespective if he’s signed a new contract

Promotion is the conundrum, we get more than 100k in L2

It's noticeable that his form has improved from where it was at the beginning of the season. The sceptics could say that this is because we are getting closer to the EFL transfer window opening. I wonder if he might have taken him a little longer to get over the disappointment of the Wembley defeat but there's no doubting what a good and committed player Armando is for us at present. He has a strong bond with Paul Cook but should have enough ambition to want to go as far as he can in the game. Whilst promotion looks a decent possibility nothing is definate until it's certain and it certainly isn't certain at the half-way stage. So, it's quite possible clubs can be sniffing round some of our players considering the form we have been in but we have to trust the powers that be to make the right decisions regarding any offers that might be made in respect of any members of our squad. That's the nature of the game.
However, regarding Dobra, because of his age are we not entitled to a fee if he moves on at the end of his contract as long as we have made him an offer of improved terms before then?

Totally agree but if he leaves in Jan, for whatever reason, and we still go up, then for me he’ll be remembered well as a bit part player, whereas those that stayed the course will forever get the deserved plaudits.

Only if he leaves in the summer on a “free”.
For him to leave in jan we’d have to accept an offer or be prepared for a tribuna to set the fee (although they are rarely used nowadays). We could reject all offers but that could mean things turn sour for the rest of the season.
I’d imagine any offer of £50k+ and we’d be strongly tempted.
I hope he’s waiting til we go up, then commits, shines in L2 and goes for 6 figures, maybe with an international cap or two to his name.

We're all hoping for that, I was more responding to those that think that should he leave in the summer, it would be for free, I thought we'd be due a development fee...
Which you just confirmed we would .

He is like a lot of young talented players like Dallas who want to get as high up the pyramid as soon as possible. Trouble is it doesn't always work out.
Personally I would like him to rise up the leagues with us, but that may not be quick enough for him.

Difference being though is that while Dallas was enjoying everything Chesterfields nightlife had to offer, Dobra was having extra training in an effort to hit the ground running come pre-season.
Dobs career will be played much higher than Dallas’

Whilst I was a little disappointed that we didn't sign Dallas at the end of last season I also remember that he missed his fair share of good chances before hitting a bit of a purple patch. Strangely, Barnsley moved him on virtually before he'd kicked a ball for them and he had hardly set the world on fire up in his homeland. Perhaps Cook saw this and never offered him terms whilst the rest was just conjecture.
Dobra is a different kettle of fish altogether and I can't see why he can't be succesful higher up the ladder. Talk on here of an offer of around £50k might be accepted is much too low in my opinion and even if he wants to move on he his more likely to have more choices on the table at the end of the season. I understand he has a great relationship with Cook and I think there's a good chance that if Cook stays Dobra will stay especially if we win promotion.

Problem being any development fee is likely next to nowt as he’s only been with us a couple of years.
