its a weird one isn't it? Last time I recall we had a new signing lined up before the list was out (actually before the season was out) we were signing Doyle.

When one is in position they will have an input but it doesnt stop them signing players should there not be a Head Coach\manager at any point.

Was talking to Paul Lemon earlier this season and he was telling me about a visit he made up to Sunderland as part of an ex players group they have. They met with Kristjaan Speakman who is sporting director up there and took them through how the scouting and decision to sign new players up there works. They have multiple scouts all watching and reporting back on players both new and ones they've identified previously and then they all meet to discuss them which includes the manager but they dont have final say etc its all part of a club decision. Seems to have worked this season for them!

Luke Williams is a head coach, not a manager, and so has no say in recruitment. Reading have or should I say had, a manager.
