My understanding is that Bridge Inn Travel man Paul had this role till he got fed up. Will he consider applying?

Did he get disillusioned? I have no idea why he quit the role but it would be interesting for the next incumbent to know.

To be honest wouldn't want this role for a grand a day never mind voluntary . Just a whipping boy/girl have you read the forums . When we had voluntary directors two been female it got very personal and at times nasty

The suggestion in post 4 may provide the answer. This being the reason one should bear in mind that Paul is a very patient chap ( until it comes to last orders) and you have to conclude the walls must have been very well constructed.

Surely a liaison position is someone who doesn’t antagonise both sides and can present a point of view in a calm and precise manner ?
