Crap? Wind ups!?
I was a customer at the concourses. For many years. I'd usually spend a minimum 20 quid. Not to mention 50/50 and the like. And I know people who no longer use the concourses because they don't like being dictated to by people they rightly feel should be appreciative of their custom. That's a fact. It's not up for debate. I probably know 20 or 30 people who go to the football, so me pointing out that if 3 or 4 amongst this subset act in this manner it's unlikely we're the only people in a crowd of 5/6000 people is not crap. It's common sense. Of the most basic kind.
And herein lies the problem, one that you and the people running this club seemingly share. You don't listen. You take customers for granted. You think subjectively and act based on your own prejudices - "as no one is taking up time upsetting me greatly about with cash...."
Some people like using cash. Some people don't like sharing toilets. Some people don't like being served substandard fayre and being overcharged for the 'privilege'. They feel like the club are taking them for granted because they think whatever happens they'll turn up, pay up and lump it.
Unlike you I'm not an absolutist. I think people/customers experience should be facilitated. That's good business, and good manners. It wouldn't be difficult. Virtually every business in Chesterfield accepts cash.
I don't care one iota about you, your job or your constant mundane self promotion. It's white noise. But I do care about CFC. That said, I won't continue to financially support a business that takes my custom for granted. I withdrew it under the Allen regime and I'll do it again if necessary. In a time where matches will all likely be streamed, the people running the club would be well advised to make the matchday experience as pleasurable and accessible as possible.
If you will withdraw your custom over them not taking cash, then you dont really want to be there. I dont know if CFC have done research on cash v card and impact, but we did, then we trialled it and then we chose to stay with it. It is not taking people for granted. Of course with every change, you lose a couple of customers who cant deal with change, and probably gain a few who like the change.
I am not an absolutist. I'm not absoluteley against change. Eqaully I am not for being ripped off and if the quality / price compromise isnt right I wont buy, regardless of the payment means. Similarly if the queue is too long. But I accept that for a business with 23 days a year operation and a captive audience, the price / quality / time compromise going to be different to being at Greggs or MacDs or my favourite restaurant. That is life when you are at an event.
So we differ on what is acceptable change and where the line for cost / quality sits. That happens. It doesnt make you right. Nor does it on the cash front, I have no idea how CFC reached their decision but I know we reached one similar based on statistics.
No self promotion by the way, just a different perspective. It would be dull if everyone said the same (and we'd probably not have moved the dial very far forward in terms of the changes that happen in the world). Life moves on, sometimes you have to embrace it...
