I’m going to be controversial for some and say as soon as possible Kabongo will replace Quigley. Whilst Quigley has certainly played better he doesn’t carry anywhere near the same goal threat, his shots on goal lack any real power and for a tall lad his ability to direct headers on target is pretty poor. Last night he played well, he pressed, he’s holding the ball up much better, he was running all over the pitch, and despite not scoring he played really well. BUT ask yourself this - when you see him with the ball near the goal do you have confidence he’ll score? Because unfortunately I don’t
Agree with that assessment. I don't think, however, it's as clear cut as saying 'Quigley out, Kabongo in'. Last night, Quigley's efforts at the top end of the pitch kept the pressure on their defenders, and helped us to comfortably hold our lead while letting Kabongo rest a bit longer, conserving his energy and getting stronger for when we really need him. If Quigley can maintain his form, it will continue to give PC the option of resting Kabongo so that he is stronger when he's really needed. I think he would have come on last night if we'd been losing or drawing with half an hour to go, but we didn't need to push him. I'd expect us to see KT at some stage v Notts County, and it would be brilliant to see him open his scoring account there on Saturday.
