Not at all. I've been happy that he's picked his performances up but still zero confidence of a goal. And I wouldn't say he's been awesome either, he's just doing the things I expect a target man to do like hold the ball up and pass it short. For me it's as simple as do we want the guy who bags for fun or the guy who doesn't, it's an easy answer.

Agree with you, hate to criticise after the performances we’ve had this season and for all his effort and obvious hard work he is the one player I’d replace at the moment. It doesn’t help him that its Kabby chomping at the bit for a starting spot though!

Nice thing is, Quigley is working nicely until Kabby is fit. We're not having to rush back our star man because we're desperate for goals and risk more injury breakdowns.

I’m going to be controversial for some and say as soon as possible Kabongo will replace Quigley. Whilst Quigley has certainly played better he doesn’t carry anywhere near the same goal threat, his shots on goal lack any real power and for a tall lad his ability to direct headers on target is pretty poor. Last night he played well, he pressed, he’s holding the ball up much better, he was running all over the pitch, and despite not scoring he played really well. BUT ask yourself this - when you see him with the ball near the goal do you have confidence he’ll score? Because unfortunately I don’t

He didn’t really have any chances to score last night, he had one turn and shot from the edge the box and a half chance where the ball was played behind him and he tried a back heel flick which he got on target but with no pace on it. His and AAs work rate and hold up play we’re instrumental last night and neither are just in the team for their goal threat.

Can’t argue with this comment from a Wrexham fan:

Would pay anything for Ollie Banks (#28 sitting in front of their defence) - he dominated the game and is everything we need. Doesn’t run around, sits there and receives the ball, turns and releases the ball within 2 touches.

Agree with that assessment. I don't think, however, it's as clear cut as saying 'Quigley out, Kabongo in'. Last night, Quigley's efforts at the top end of the pitch kept the pressure on their defenders, and helped us to comfortably hold our lead while letting Kabongo rest a bit longer, conserving his energy and getting stronger for when we really need him. If Quigley can maintain his form, it will continue to give PC the option of resting Kabongo so that he is stronger when he's really needed. I think he would have come on last night if we'd been losing or drawing with half an hour to go, but we didn't need to push him. I'd expect us to see KT at some stage v Notts County, and it would be brilliant to see him open his scoring account there on Saturday.

One of the most enjoyable games I've seen for a while.
We fully deserved that, after a strong opening from Wrexham (first 5 mins) we looked so dangerous going forwards.

As I predicted, play like we did Saturday but be a bit more clinical and the game would be won by half time, and that's how it panned out.

We look very strong all over the pitch, and with quality in the stands.

Not getting carried away, but it's a pleasure to watch this team play the Cook way

Would be 3 for 3 and clear at the top but for his actions. Fitz’s to lose now

He might only be on a short term contract.

Except with RFs short term deal ends, unless we extend it obviously.

Someone else could come in for him too.

This thread on their forum is particularly funny…..apparently we were deluded in our thoughts going into last nights match……*bump*

Love this haha

"Ollie Banks.

Was a free agent. Best player on the pitch. Infuriating how he’s gone there and we’ve spent lots on inferior players."

Horton, Banks, Oldaker, Dobra... its early doors but it looks like we've recruited brilliantly.

With a bit more coaching from Cook etc, Quigley has the attributes to become a physical handful type CF. Always a useful player to have. There's lots of sense in playing Kabby in shot bursts just now and picking the games carefully. The new players we've seen so far look to be very astute buys indeed.

A "Big Up" to all the Wrexham fans travelling all that way on a rainy Tuesday night. They are a big club with a great fan base and deserve better. Proper club and proper fans. Bit of the usual friendly banter with the W7 lot but wish them all a safe journey home. Their youngsters wouldn't understand the history of our clubs going back and the respect we showed each other at the 1997 Saltergate FA Cup game. Great atmosphere all around the ground and their were some old heads out tonight. Thats what football is all about. Great night an a great advert for NL

Completely agree, just wish the couple of muppets would leave the Pyro at home

Has the length been stated?

Covolan will be back in before too long, I'm sure.

I've heard 1 month, 3 months and game by game.

All accounts though have said with a view to permanent deal.

I thought he did well last night, the thing I like is when he comes out he comes out, he doesn't change his mind or hesitate. I'd give him a deal and covo will need to sit in the stands for a bit

I do if it's a header. I think he's been great and just needs a goal (granted he did score on Saturday but the ref and lino didn't think a foot was enough behind the line to count).

Of course Kabby is better but it might end up with Kabby & Asante trading places while we're playing so well.

At least Quigs is looking like a player now, night and day from last year

If he's fit, he's fit. Delaying returning to the starting XI will not make him any less likely to be injured again.

He starts on Saturday for me.

Do I detect a slight change in approach with how the club looks after players? Think it was Roberts who said they were managing Asante on Saturday, hence his absence (poss previous managers might have played him?). So I suspect they’ll have a plan for Kabby and how they reintegrate him into the team and wouldn’t be surprised to see him in and out for a while.

I'd expect Kaby to replace Asante. For one thing Quigley gives us the aerial option, though limited, and for another KT and AA are very similar. Similarly brilliant, but similar. It's a very fine margin - with passing like that do we need an aerial option? - and I'd hate to be a National League defender faced with KT and AA playing together. Just the problem a Manager likes.
For all last night's brilliance I still think there's a lot more to come from this squad, barring injuries. I notice the two teams we played previously both won away last night. It didn't surprise me as I thought they both had a bit of something about them, but we could have beaten both by a margin. Some time soon a side is going to get really clobbered.

I said the same last week, if we get get Quigs. To rough up the CB a bit more he will be in.playable. His weakness is he can't head a ball very well, even if we could get him to match Dents.then he will score plenty of goals.

I mentioned elsewhere (or earlier in this thread) that I thought Asante had been effectively rested for Aldershot with a view to coming back in fresh for the more physical challenge of Wrexham.

I too could see him play an hour from the start at the weekend and then sit on the bench for the following game.

yeah, I said the same, Roberts basically admitted he was available to play last night straight after Saturdays game.

One thing is for sure, AA is a world away from the player who finished last season.
