Looks like next weeks starting lineup is sorted all things being equal.

Some players must be a bit short of game time

Mandy is clearly a Cook fave

Nice to see Kabby coming on for a cameo performance at the end. Thought all the lads looked sharp and ready. Good performance all round. Great Sports Bar too and a nice set up. Cookie can be pleased going into next weekends game. Anyone else have fun on the way home with the Road being closed at RAF Cranwell - going down the single road track with oncoming traffic.

It looks like Cooky has opted against trying Clements out at LHS CH in any friendly. I'd have thought it might have been prudent to give the Clements and Horton LHS combo a run out in one of the matches.

Horton has to start for me he is real class. If fit, we have seen the starting line up for Forking in the last 3 games. If we take our chances we will beat a lot of teams playing the superb football as last night. The midfield is awesome, cant wait for next weekend.

From what I was told he didn't actually get a touch on the ball.

I actually thought that Boston look alot better than some of the teams we've seen in this league over the years. They made it a tough match last night and will no doubt be challenging for the title in their league.
But we managed to cope with them quite well and established our quick passing game.
Grimes is a different beast under Cooky, last season he got caught out too easily but from the two matches I've seen of him he seems to take a deep breath, assess where the dangers are coming from and plants himself right in position to mop up. Williams is now showing even more what a decent player he is, everytime he attacks the ball he's winning it.
But for me, that midfield of Banks & Oldaker is both strong and skillful. The range of passing from both players and the understanding they are building up already will have this league tying themselves up cos the ball is being switched in the blink of an eye. Players like Dobra and (hopefully) Kabongo will take the plaudits (rightly so) but the work that's being done behind them is what's so impressive this time.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

I agree Oldaker and Banks look brilliant together. Banks, we know what he is with his excellent long range passing ability, eye for a goal etc from last time round, but he has definitely matured as a player (as you’d expect being a good few years older now and a lot more EFL experience). He definitely has captain vibes about him and wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up our vice captain behind grimes.

But Oldaker is seriously impressing me. Good off both feet, always in position protecting the back 4, and rarely gives the ball away (if ever?). Let’s hope them two can strike up a Morsy/Ryan esque partnership in the heart of the midfield this year, having that consistency will be absolutely key. I lost count of how many central midfield combinations and partnerships we had last year from rotation/injuries, and in the end we paid the price.

Exciting times

A professional footballer out injured for months, would you expect him to be anything other than keen to be involved?

Only had 3-4 mins but looked sharp running for the ball. Tooleys take is a good write up of the game.

Totally agree Dave , I thought we were excellent last night. All the new signings have fitted in superbly. Like you say Horton is a crackin player and the goalie is a breath of fresh air , very vocal comes for crosses and plays as an extra defender!! He is everything Loach wasn't. Journey home was a B****Y nightmare with all the diversions!

Spot on , I think this game was a kind of feet on the ground for supporters who are expecting a roll over at Dorking. Be very interesting when Cook announces his starting line up next week.
God I hate this league.

Yep, the combined pace stats for Quigley, Mandeville, Asante, Dobra probably aren't startling. I'm just wondering if Gyasi's goal, and his pace, might get him the starting shirt ahead of Asante. Probably not after all the prep over the last 3 matches.

I thought both the early subs Cooper and Gyasi looked good when they came on.
Cooper could be the signing of the season when he gets his fitness and back up to match pace.
And Gyasi could well be a replacement for Asante next week, as Asante again didn’t impress

I think he's working hard, currently without much reward or luck. Of course, he's our penalty king don't forget.

So far this season under Cook Williams, Grimes and Manderville are all looking sharp, just need some consistency from them, then we'll be quids in.

The midfield is looking exciting with Banks leading the ranks. Cooper looked class when he came on. Boy Cooky has signed some real class all over the Team. All we need is the luck, especially with injuries and we will be at the top when it counts.
