If he's got a 4 year contract which is broken by him any club he went to would have to pay us some compensation. Likewise if we sack him he will also get some compensation from us.....so he's in no different position to any manager under contract anywhere!

That's standard and I've no idea why anyone expects anything different. The only issue would be the length/size of the compensation and I don't see that being anything over 12 months given that we have had our fingers burnt before!

What's different is that we appear to have a manager who is apparently looking to better his job just four months into his contract- I don't think you can say that's like any club manager. And the dangers around player recruitment are clear to see.

I can't see that he's looking, not his fault if he got linked and if it's true credit to him for turning them down

Just because Barnsley were allegedly interested doesn't mean Cook is actively looking to leave does it? Managers get approached that's just part and parcel of the game...
