I'm off the papers at the moment, I'm not match fit, I've enrolled at uni to fill the time, studying how not to run a football club...

Does the Paul Cook rumour, replacing JR, have legs?

in truth no one outside the inner circle really knows do they. i grow up in an age where the first you heard of anything was when someone brought home a copy of the derbyshire times on a thursday night, the world has moved on drastically from those days meaning that information flow is rapid but with this comes an impatience, everyone has a comment, an angle, a story, an opinion and just like this forum anyone can put something out there and it plants a seed, becomes a potential talking point, a story even. james rowe has been suspended whilst an investigation takes place is what the majority of us know... but it is a talking point that is almost impossible to resist. paul cook is available, he did a great job here that feels unfinished, coincidentally he was a recent guest on legends of the spire and for me endeared himself once again. lets see what happens, if the verdict sees james rowe leave the technique i would happily see cookie return.

My take, and this is only my opinion, is that we’ll be working on a replacement right now. Half expect an announcement Monday confirming the inevitable re JR.

I'd be surprised to see a current in-work manager come in should JR depart (and let's face it - that looks inevitable), unless they're riding high atm AND contract expires this summer (or cheap).
Here we go again!

The Trust will be doing things as quickly as they can. There are so many moving parts with this and frankly, it's not a situation I imagine they've dealt with professionally before.

If Cook came in a decision about an assistant might be necessary, affecting Webb's future probably. All involving financial costs, also might Rowe be paid off to a degree to achieve a speedy resolution? Ideally, from a cost point of view, if PC came in just til the end of the season he could work with Webb in the short term.

If they do find him guilty of misconduct and sack him he shouldn’t get a penny!

I would imagine that should (I genuinely hope not) JR be sacked then any replacement would have to work with everything we've got.
The Trust will have learned a valuable lesson from the past year as far as not allowing a manager to rule the club, will probably insist on any replacement having to work with DW for the short term at the least.
Life goes on. Whatever happens.

Correct but if the club preferred not to have protracted wrangling over the issue and it wasn't too expensive they might consider it?

I guess the only fly in the ointment is if there’s anything in the suggestion that the Police may be involved. If there is, then it could make it difficult to sever ties quickly and the announcement may be along the lines of ‘JR on gardening leave to the end of the season’.
If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.

cook did that before with wright and norm when he first came in and also started at ipswich without him (i listened to his interview when appointed at ipswich and got the impression he was hopeful LR would join him at the end of the season but wasn't prepared to take him out of wigan mid season) anyway thats all for another day.

If he's sacked for gross misconduct and the club have correctly followed all due processes there's nothing to wrangle over.

If JR is removed from post then there is an opportunity for both Cook and CFC to agree a deal until the end of the season. Then Cook can hopefully get another promotion on his CV and we freely allow him to move to a higher placed club if the opportunity arises or he agrees a deal to stay with us. If he moves on we have a better opportunity to take the time to recruit a new manager at the end of the season that suits the situation we are in. Rowe has improved the team massively since he arrived so must be doing something right but if he has crossed the line with any unsuitable actions then unfortunately he has to go and we move on. Managers and players come and go but as fans we are here permanently.
