That’s the obvious pull but would you move to work directly for a manager who is so disliked by so many in your industry?
Not only work for them but have to either relocate or endure a long commute a few times a week for the privilege?

I suppose you might for a kings ransom but I doubt we’re talking that kind of money.

Be careful with that sensible type of post

The jump in income for those coming to us from Gloucester, for example, will have been significant. I dare say even those individuals who are widely disliked are pleasant enough to those who are important to them professionally. In the case of a football manager, you'd think that would be his key players and coaching staff.

James Rowe strikes me as someone who has his favourites and if you get on the wrong side of him you are done. See any number of players who disappeared without a trace since he took over.

I suspect that anyone who is associated with CFC who is deeply intertwined with this will also be suspended.
Here we go again!

Assuming the "Save James" post on 'Lilleyland' was someone associated with Rowe (surely he wouldn't be so stupid to get involved himself...would he?), it's a real turnaround.

Because it's not too long ago others in his circle were suggesting he'd be off to some nonedescript outfit like Colchester unless he got a rise.

Which he subsequently recieved.

Yet now he's all but begging to stay? Desperately imploring fans he'd essentially threatened to snub to campaign on his behalf?

Said at the time the Board were hasty in handing him a new deal. They would've been better off reminding him where he'd just come from and what a priviledge it is to be manager of Town. A very well backed manager of Town. Infact it may transpire they could've nipped any arrogance in the bud, I dunno.

Either way it looks like those outfits supposedly queueing for his signature aren't as keen as we were led to believe, though...

Then you see them doing nicely at other clubs on a regular basis.

Does it though? Has he ever won anything or got a team promoted? Yes he has potential and I sincerely hope we go up this year, but he is very much work in progress. I hope his attitude and ego don’t get in the way of his potential. Though personally I have my doubts

I thought with your previous information acquired from a trusted source very close to the Club that you would know that Grimes isn't deeply intertwined in this or are you beginning to doubt the very reliable informers of the initial allegations posted.

He was just starting to enter a tricky patch IMO, form had dropped off a bit and he had suddenly changed the style of play. It was quite likely we were about to see the first real test this season and with Stockport hitting form maybe the pressure was rising.

Maybe he was starting to feel that pressure, and his reaction to it has some part to play in the situation at the moment. (Speculation disclaimer goes here)

A trait he no doubt shares with countless football managers from the Prem down.
I’m not defending Rowe’s character but I’d suggest he’s far from alone with his treatment of players.

I don’t think I’ve read an ex-players autobiography yet where they don’t give an account of a spell in their career where they are frozen out, unwanted, chucked in with the youth team to train and so on by a particular manager.

I think it’s clear to see from his interviews that when things aren’t going to plan, Rowe had a tendency to be a bit spiky and abrasive in his response. This would no doubt be passed onto the players but I suppose that all boils down to whether he oversteps the mark with them.

Surely he couldn’t be worse than chucking hairdryers about or throwing stray boots about at players like Fergie?

That's something I've questioned too.

I get the money side of it but if the bloke is as universally disliked as some folk are saying, players would generally avoid him like the plague you'd think.

I can't say why players would play well for him beyond the professional desire to play well; he does seem to be able to bring the best out of some people. As for signing for him, if coming here represented a return to full-time pro football for Whelan, Asante, Carline, Grimes and their like, then that is a powerful draw to any club, I'd have thought.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.
