You must be the only one. We've not been mid-table L2 since Lee Richardson.

I've been scarred ever since. 😆 We finished 8th in 2012/13 but were never serious promotion contenders. What I'm saying is I'd rather be scrapping it out in the National League than having mediocrity in the League 2. However, I'd sooner be battling against relegation in League 1 than fighting for promotion from League 2 or the NL. My most emotional moments watching Town were Glyn Hurst's goal v Luton and Dychie's penalty v Boro.

He's not doing do well at League 1 Ipswich, and there could soon well be a vacancy there. Oh, nearly forgot that James Rowe hails from Ipswich.

If a club like Ipswich came calling for JR, I doubt anyone would begrudge him going

James rowe would need to be on some hard drugs to want to go to southend, even if his wages were higher he would probably be sacked in a few month, clubs a shambles

Former Southend man Spencer Prior: "The club should not be losing 4-0 at home to Chesterfield and it should be beating Aldershot."

Spence, mate, these are two old-school Football League clubs. come back when you're losing 4-0 at home to chuffing Solihull!

Sollihull aint a bad team these days, no football league history but pushing there

That was the suspicion last year when the same journalist was suggesting interest from Colchester

Is this the journalist who was known to Kev D at Bolton?

If Sarfend is now well in to its interviewing process but JR is the only one leaked as a target then there's a plot. A bit tiresome maybe, but possibly providing beneficial publicity to CFC as well as JR. There's one thing - if JR pleads ignorance on this then I for one won't believe him.

like many i'm enjoying JR's reign so far and hope he can stay put and get the job of promoting us to L2 done, preferably this season. He is clearly an ambitious manager and when a tempting offer comes along i'v eno doubt he'll be off, just the feeling i get from the guy, i don't however think Southend is a tempting offer right now.
on another point though and maybe this is naiive but i have considerable confidence that as a club we would not suddenly find ourselves plunged back into oblivion the moment he walks out the door, i think the board showed good judgement and professionalism when they appointed Rowe, it was clear that proper thought and planning went into the appointment and they made sure we got a manager who was the right fit for us, something i'd be confident they could do again when that time comes. our previous regime had a scattergun approach to appointing managers. in short i feel the club is in good hands and whether it be with James Rowe in the dugout or someone else we will see our club back in the EFL before too long.

The board iirc has already indicated it is sourcing a replacement if and when JR leaves, so we are not left in the lurch. The names in the frames are open to debate. I'd suggest Garrard, not that I like him much.

If they appointed Garrard my 50 odd years has a season ticket holder would be terminated.

That's where I'm at. I'd credit Crooty and the Board for backing JR's template and learning a lot in terms of professional standards.
As for JR himself, imo he should be thinking of the steps necessary to land a 'Director of Football' job instead of mere manager at poxy Sarfend.

' Dychie's penalty v Boro '

That's got to be mine too. I have the photo of it "Chesterfield burst the net" on my wall by the homes of football guy. A great memory.

Colleymore as posted an update on their selection process on southends message board in what appears to be to an attempt to regain repect from their fans for openness. In it he states that all approaches to other clubs will be via the proper channels "it encourages good communication betwean clubs, engenders trust and integrity".

Well we've told them 'no' so that's it then unless Colleymore is prepared to end up with severe egg on face and jeopardise is own credibility

I've a painting of Dyche celebrating that goal, too. The recent Legends of the Spire podcast with Johnny D features the commentary with Andy Gray saying "Just smash it" - the only person in the stadium who seemed not to realise it was going straight down the middle was Ben Roberts.
These go to eleven.

Wrexham, Stockport and Notts County

Was looking at Wrexham's board the other day and they seem to rate him but also that he complains about stuff a lot, which is probably fair.

Takes a brave 'keeper to just stand up for a penalty, as if it goes either side, it just looks like they've not tried.

He was still trying to hold back the tears after he'd given the 'penalty' away, anyway!

That is the general complaint with sideswipes about money spent, style of play and being a dirty side.

Probably similar complaint that we have Gerrard. Bottom line is about results

If Rowe was to leave I wouldn't turn my nose up at Ian Evatt but the chances of him coming here I say were about..... nil

That'll not take long then.
I can see their owner being daft enough to allow Fat Stan to get people employed, who the new manager promptly sacks. Now, where's that happened before?
