We are still to play Torquay in what could be a really crucial game. If Boden is classified as "on loan" does that mean he will be "cup tied" if he still belongs to his parent club. I don't know how it works in this League.

It depends if there is a clause in his loan agreement which stops him playing against his parent club. In most agreements in the UK there is.

I think some are having an over reaction to the tactical resting of Evans and Hollis.
Some saying they've played there last games in a blue shirt.

When we got relegated from the football league one of the major problems was we hadn't got adequate cover for Hird and Evatt who both picked up long term injuries.

What JR is doing is ensuring we have players who are capable of coming into the side and this is just what we need with having to play Saturday/Tuesday for most of the remaining weeks of the season.

To say after one game Evans and Hollis have played there last games, is kneejerk and doesn't give any credit to them for there roles in turning this season around.
Hollis for one hasn't put a foot wrong since he came back into the side following him being discarded by Pemberton.

Evans again despite a shaky start to the season has been excellent under JR.

Think we will have to get used to changes on a regular basis to cope with the demands Rowe puts on the players and the fixture congestion, and that a player being rested isn't a reflection on his performances.

I would think Saturday could see Hollis come in for Maguire to give him a rest, Evans back in for Kerr, Mccourt in for Smith and Dinanga in for Clark.

Great options for the manager to have

Agreed, although I believe the Premier League have a rule that loan players can’t play against their parent club. And a rule that stops a club trying to insert a clause that a permanent signing can’t play against his old club.

Yep, 3 excellent debuts if we include Mad Gav (Kevin Beattie) Gunning at CH.

Smith fascinated me. Big, fit lad who can drive forward with the ball in midfield and pass. What the bluddddy hell is he doing in a part time league?

And Smith the goalie. It will surprise me greatly if he is rotated.

Agree. Both Smiths are looking like good additions.

We seem to have some depth to the squad now in most positions. The only area that still worries me is what happens up top without Asante. Is Tyson potentially the answer now he is back fit? Possibly not at his age and i'd say Yussef and Dinanga have something to prove.

Perhaps Evans is looking elsewhere after the enquiry in Jan?

Maybe Hollis isn't looking to sign either?

If Evans needs a Taxi I would be happy to take him. He just hasn't developed into the player I though he would. Plus he will be on a big money for this level so another cost saving opportunity.

I understand Jon Smith was going through his paces at Meadow Lane before the County game so I don't think he is on furlough.

However, I would suggest Coddington is.

Didn't think we had played Whittle much at RWB and certainly not started him there. In the current set up it appears to be between Whittle and Taylor for the LWB position.

I'm probably a minority of one as usual, but I'd play Buchanan before either of them. He was good in a poor side - in this one he'd be brilliant. Lack of height might be the crunch, though.

Evans has done a decent job, no need to trot out the old taxi stuff, but I think JR's heavy reference to Kerr as a ball-playing defender gives you a clue about Evans's future.
Evans is fine defensively at this level, but distribution is a foreign country.

Says the man who slated Sam Hird for costing us games in which he didn’t even play.
A new hope.

You've answered your own question. I would also add lack of pace as well as height.

Getting quite crowded in here then. I suppose another reason for Buchanan's absence is that Loz is playing so well we don't need a wing back who's main virtue is defensive, but I hate to see such a good player not even considered.

He's 34 now, much rather see the two younger lads playing.

Exactly. And another point I bet he's one of the highest wage earners. Another cost saving opportunity me thinks.

Did he get done often for pace? I thought he was the only member of our defence who had any, back in the day..

Not quick enough to beat a man and get a cross in. Always went backwards.

All I can say on this one "h" is that Rowe studied our performances before his interview and made a representation which identified what he considered were some of our underlying problems. Some of these came over as a bit of a surprise to our Board.

The Board then placed their trust in JR and we, as supporters, have welcomed the turnaround both on and off the pitch. The results speak for themselves. Some players have benefitted from his arrival and some haven't. Whether they have been unfortunate or not or whether they don't fit into his profile happens. But, eh, the manager is closer to the players and what he sees in them and it is very very difficult to say, at this point in time, that he has got it wrong.

Agree on this. The noises coming out of the club to me indicate Evans time is up here - Weston being named club captain, him being dropped last night + Rowe references the signing of Kerr being about his ability on the ball. Wouldn't be suprised to see Gunning/Kerr starting more regularly alongside Maguire and Hollis

Also agree Evans has proved he can play at this level and has been good under Rowe, just think of the 3/4 CBs we have he is the most limited with the ball at his feet. Maguire on the other hand is popping up all over the pitch, he really is looking a standout player for us.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we see some bids for Maguire in the summer. Ball playing centre back, can run with the ball, some weaknesses, but a reasonably high profile for a non league player (he’s Harry’s brother as every away commentator tells us). And still young for a defender.

After watching his performance he looks to be a good prospect.
God I hate this league.

Well he mentioned he turned down the chance to go to a football league club in Jan and signed a new deal with us instead so its not a big leap to suggest he could be interesting clubs in the summer.
