I agree, it's the most important part of the announcement. It would also be good to have confirmation that a decent compensation clause has been built into it.

Manager agrees contract extension – Chesterfield FC (chesterfield-fc.co.uk)-fc.co.uk)
Excellent. You would assume this contract includes clauses should the big boys come poaching.

They've advertised that we've given him a new deal, he was already here for another 2.5 years, don't see how telling us the length of the extension (I'm guessing a year on an increased salary) makes any difference. I'm fine with the extension anyway, he's clearly the business.

Yep i suspect this is the case as well....adds a bit longer to his deal, probably adds a bit more to his pay and includes clauses that work for both parties should an opportunity elsewhere come up.

You're not wrong imho but I don't blame the club for keeping their cards close to their chest, especially if it maximises compo in the event he does end up going elsewhere.
And if it does get leaked, we might find out who the leak is.

Why not press for all the details of his contract to be made public to that when the vultures circle in the sky over Sheffield Road, as they surely will if he maintains his record, they know where to pitch their bids. I couldn’t care a toss about contract length, salary, car mileage allowance or associated matters so long as we maintain this fantastic progress and keep him on the books.

They’ll probably know where to pitch their bids. Technique stadium, Sheff road.

As an aside, look at Eastleigh’s message board as an indicator of fans’ interest in comparison with ours. There is one message that they lost and a bloke answered that he was disappointed. If it was CFC there would be pages of it. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if JR has been clocking social media to see how much support he is getting.

I wouldn’t underestimate the part things like the crowdfunding for the training kit that happened in 48hrs, the money raise for ashgate hospice etc will play in making him realise what he could be part of here. He can probably see the support that’s there if it goes well and I think he wants to be the manager that turns it around and gets us going forward again.

You would hope so and of course he could have referred to all of that when he was asked about contract talks at the press conference.

I think that it is pretty obvious he does . There is a hint in his interview last night where he made no apologies for the Stockport defeat and firmly stuck to his belief that we were on track with his plan until the ref. messed up. I got the impression he was aware of unjust criticism for the performance and his anger directed at the ref. It almost happened again last night with the 'hand of God' goal. It hurts like mad when we lose judging by his Solihull and Stockport interviews after losses. Good !
