I assume for one like today it would be up and down on the same day [ ? ] but surely not for Weymouth on a Tueaday night.
I live in the south and prefer to watch Maidenhead rather than anything higher up. I recall asking one of the squad from Truro on a night match and he said they would be home about 3am and he started work at 5 !

No stop overs at the moment due to COVID.

I believe the opposite usually applies and we travel down Friday's for long trips given the earlier kick off.
We travel the day before on very long midweek trips too but it would be very rare and rightly so to stay over after a game, as the players are pro's who get the following day off.

There is no logic to that in terms of the virus - a hotel would be open for a work requirement and the players are less likely to catch something in a hotel than on a coach.
Now if its to save money due to virus impact on finances I get it....

They still need to get on a coach to travel to the hotel.....
Teams travel has increased massively with coach firms charging more and some required to have social distancing of sorts on the coaches meaning for some teams needing 3 coaches rather than the usual 1.
(Which at say £1500 from London to Liverpool can be pricey)!!

The team coach would leave Saltergate around 730 on the Saturday morning arriving back around 10 in the evening
For the long midweek trips the leaving time would be around 930 on the morning of the match getting back at about 3 the following morning
How times have changed regarding travel to away matches

Thats most likely down to driving hrs and regulations for the bus driver...

Yes, for these trips a supporters bus used to leave well before the players ie at chucking out time Friday.
Yorkshire is Yorkshire
Never the twain shall meet.

Do you happen to have a spare copy of the programme for the Maidenhead v Chesterfield game last season please ?

That's a drag if you have to get home to Manchester or somewhere.

They’ve kicked off early as well, as it’s happening with a lot of long distance trips I’ve noticed recently (Sunderland v Gills) also. Wonder if this at at the away clubs request and they see a benefit or not. Can’t think why buts happening a lot

I did get that, just couldnt understand why a hotel was a no when a coach is a bigger risk...
Lets be honest most hotels have few guests - reckon we could have opened ours at the Tower specially for the squad for last night and they could have had all the hotel for themselves!

Think that sums up the state of the London market, I doubt in June 19 you could have got a Premier Inn for that!

It was absolutely scandalous the last time I was doing for work. Premier Inn was £220 for a night and I didn’t even get any windows!! Luckily I wasn’t paying
