Really hope some of his early promise can now finally be developed under a supportive manager

Looks like this manager can see the promise and hopefully can get the best out of him.

Tim.
Me neither - nothing wrong with a little man crush. It's the 21st century pal.

As long as it doesn’t become obsessive ‘bunny boiler’ when the crush wears off
Back to Rowley (i think), he does seem to have become more positive on the ‘landing pad’ since Rowe started picking him

That’s surprised me TBH.
I’m wondering if the terms are reduced? It would also be nice to see young Joe fulfill his potential and actually play in a decent team

Very nice touch, reminiscent of the old days of how the club was run when Crooty were a lad. I'd like to think it's his initiative.

A previous "administrator" at this club was fond of telling everyone that the contract he gave Rowley made him the highest-paid player at the club. Whether that was at the time, or including Weston, I couldn't say, but it must be safe to assume that Joe has had to take a bigger haircut than Elvis did when he joined the Army.

Possibly, because of his age, Joe was given a longer term contract than the Club would normally offer with wage incrimentals at certain milestones. At the time other Clubs were beginning to sit up and take notice too so it was needed to get him on a decent length contract.

An apparently out of favour player works hard, re-establishes himself in the Manager's mind then accepts a realistic extension.
Well done all.

Let’s hope his turn around in fortunes matches Sam Hird......becomes an integral part of the side bringing promotion and success after cementing his place in the side

For the club, it is still a gamble even more so in the current climate. We have not seen enough of the player and whether or not that changes in the future is down to Joe and the first team manager.
The new contract has surprised me due to the lack of personal development and progression in what has been a very limited squad.

I wouldn't have thought his new wage will kick in till next season, at which point he'll be on lower wages in a much smaller squad with his chances of being loaned out if he's not doing the business much enhanced.
