Wash your mouth out with soap and water.

Can you imagine Evans going on a Blathers solo run, beating half the opposing team?

I can’t imagine them pre-recording “Today’s Man of the Match, Will Evans” as we had to for the Great Man back at Saltergate.

I know recently we've had Evatt' Cooper etc.

But to me Blathers is the best Centre half I've seen at town, I think I only saw him beaten in the air twice lol.

What a bargain 50k buy

The Blatherwick\Breckin partnership back then was brilliant, complimented each other so well. I was a big Breckin fan...Blatherwick always got MoM awards because Breckin was so efficient you only noticed him if he had a bad game. He did a decent job at full back as well.

Long throw to the near post flicked into the penalty area to be attacked - same thing every game and worked like a charm.

No, he replicated it. It was developed and brought to perfection by Tom Fennoughty.

Blatherwick was probably the best defender I've seen at Town in the air and did all the rest of the basics to a high level. His solo runs are legendary. As I said, nothing wrong with head it and kick it centre backs, some are better than others and he was probably the best I've seen for us with the possible exception of Blakey. Did you see Rio Ferdinand play at Town on loan with Bournemouth ?

Think i was there that day....Tony Lormor curled one in the top corner from outside the box at the Cross Street End to put us one up early on.

Why did I remember this kid playing that day amongst the hundreds of others I've seen and instantly forgotten? Because he was a Rolls Royce - not just a head it and kick it centre back. Not to say that most lower League fans who saw Blatherwick will not remember him because he was usually outstanding- but different.

Yes, I understood what you meant, and I agree. My tongue was in my cheek a bit- Blathers is the type of hero I’ve missed for years at Town now.

I was there that day, and yes, Ferdinand did catch the eye despite his youth. He looked classy. I also saw Defoe play at Saltergate for Bournemouth on loan when he was young, and look great, if memory serves. I certainly recall Defoe aiming a niggly kick at Blathers when playing for West Ham in the League Cup and paying for it by being wellied around the park, too. Just looked that one up and it was in 2002.
These go to eleven.

One of the best centre halves I’ve seen at our new stadium played for Rotherham in the 17-18 pre season friendly. Strong, cultured, easy on the ball, way above League One standard (as were Rotherham at the time)
His name- Semi Ajayi, now a regular with West Brom.

Blathers was great but my all time favourite was Bill Green and what a leader.

I guess the interest in Evans from Sheridan was typical of his lazy ‘scouting’ methods. I appreciate that Rowe has signed plenty of his former players but bringing a player up two levels when that player didn’t even perform particularly well for the manager in question, instead of looking at the wider market, sounds like typical Shez to me.
These go to eleven.

The Mark 'Bomber' Williams/Sean Dyche partnership for me, closely followed by the Blathers/Breckin one.
