What an absolute mess of our waterways the Tories left in their wake. Not just them but OFWAT and the Environment Agency, people need to be brought to justice for what they allowed the water companies to do. I had to give up my wild swimming due to being ill all the time and fishing on the Derwent River has become pointless over the past couple of years.

Action needs taking now to improve our rivers and to stop these filthy animals dumping s**t in them. Hopefully the promises the new lot are voicing will be seen to be making an immediate impact.

It's shameful what the previous Government encouraged and let happen.

I agree with both of you. I'm absolutely appalled at what has gone on with our rivers and water systems; they had been brought up to a very good standard before the Tories came to power. As Death has said, it's a national scandal and a disgrace.

Just read about Thames water with cap in hand, disgraceful. In Sep 2018 Labour released a document called "Clear Water" which describes how they will be bringing water back into public ownership. Hopefully they wont backtrack and carry out their promise of cleaning up the privatisation mess which has been ongoing since 1989.
