Well just in case I’m accused of hindsight, may I place it on record that I’m concerned about the governments (and it’s backers in the media) mixed messaging regarding the shutdown.

I’ve been told today that from next week pubs will be open to serve food and beer outside. Is this misinformation?

Unless the person who has told you has inside information I'd say it is little more than guesswork.

I have an opinion on everything, I just dont feel the need to try and convince others of it.

By the way, being a voter for a protest party in opposition achieves nothing. In case you hadnt noticed, the Lib Dems have been in power more recently than Labour in a coalition govt.

That is pure bonkers

How is C4 supposed to know the nations stockpile of PPE procured in 2009 for Swine Flu has been reduced and/or has massively passed its expired date until it was actually needed.

Over to you Mr (not so) Impartial (but very snide)

But they know now, as its a story, when it was being reduced then it wasnt a story as it wasnt important to them.

A lot of it has 7 year live so stockpiled for swine flu in 2009 would make it unsafe now anyway. Did they mention that bit?

Not snide to have a different view of life, I'd say snide is sitting in your armchair aiming barbed comments at everyone else but doing nothing positive. I assume as a minimum given your interest that you are a councillor? maybe even stood to be an MP a couple of times? or is it better to throw bombs from the sidelines? ah, Union Rep (sorry Death, not all as reasonable as you!)

Given we have bars and restaurants and have been told by UK Hospitality that they will be last to open, even outside areas, then we will see. The problem isnt the serving outside its that staff have to prepare inside and facilities for customers are inside.

They can in Croatia though.

I suspect he got it from one of the Red Tops.

Headlines like ‘Hurrah Lockdown Freedom Begins’ or ‘Happy Monday’ from the governments own unofficial cheerleaders/mouthpieces now have them frantically rowing backward. Will Sunday’s ‘big bash’ with Bozo be a damp squib? On the other hand it may all be cunning plan of Boldrick style proportions

That last paragraph is why I use the term. It’s how you normally end your apologist stuff. I suppose you have to justify it somehow.

good argument, well expressed.

I am great fun at parties, they are normally with people who can see two sides to a coin and have a decent debate, sleep well.

PS never heard of Durrante but if you are really interested my favourite artists have always been The Stranglers, The Cure, Queen, and Simply Red (although he is better at music than politics or football teams)

Lyrics from Jimmy Durrante

Ever had the feeling that
you wanted to go,
But still had the feeling that you wanted to stay,
You knew it was right, it wasn't wrong.
Still you knew you wouldn't be very long.
Go or stay, stay or go,
Start to go again and change your mind again.
It's hard to have the feeling that you wanted to go,
But still have the feeling that you wanted to stay.

Tossing a coin must be a problem for you, heads or tails and you can't choose the edge. That's if you can make a choice before it lands. Red or white wine? Better go for Rose.

Yeah that worked out brilliantly didn’t it

You wouldn’t be able to decide which foot to shoot yourself in, youd choose both.

I make decisions all the time. I do though try and consider both sides of the options before I decide, not only listen to one and make my mind up but the other must be scum by default.

By the way, red. Or bitter. Or maybe lager if its very hot. Easy. But I have tried white, and sparkly, and lots of different types of beer to come to that decision.

Well I would say that it worked out better than the Brown govt, better than Cameron on his own and better than BoJo will - and also that when you add moderation to extremes it normally improves them. But I dont expect you to agree, that's fine, we can all have a view.

I make decisions every day. I made a decison to let my tenants pay less rent as they have been furloughed. Not defer it you understand, pay less. Took me 10 seconds or less. Why, because its an easy one and it doesnt take long to look at both sides and decide. But I looked at both sides and both options first. Only an idiot wouldnt.

When I was 15 I thought I knew everything. When I was 18 I knew I knew everything. When I was 21, after 3 years at Uni, I realised I only knew most things. When I was 30, after 9 years at work and mixing with some brilliant people, I realised I knew f all and the world was way more complicated than my little mind could comprehend. Normally as you get older you realise life isnt black and white. Well, you do if you open yourself up to different experiences to realise what you dont know. Good luck with Hasland Boy.

As in my other post, I consider myself to be the expert in very little, just trying to put together a credible argument to the contrary for those who only see one side and view everything through their own blinkers...

As for fitness, I am great at that, sorted how to never get any workout injuries, hamstring tears the lot - be a fat b*****d and dont do exercise. I have zero problems and I probably wont be a burden on the state in my old age either ;)

It is becoming apparent that SOME (that's some and not all) who move into the environs on the periphery of the 'smoke' seem to a acquire some, self proclaimed intellect increase.

Isn’t slightly right or even slightly left of centre the type of Government that sees the most harmony?

SKS slightly left of centre, BJ slightly right of centre, they are probably closer politically than Corbyn and SKS ever were

From what I've read just now, which seems reasonably plausible, it sounds likely it'll be another 3 weeks as we are with only minor changes from Monday.

As for a solution to next year's crisis, I'm gonna suggest Brexit be suspended until the economy stabilises. It's widely expected to tank this year taking at least another two to recover. So to impose what's also widely expected to be another huge blow for purely political purposes? A madness we've the time to foresee and avoid...

Purely from a time constraint perspective that would be sensible. We’ve had a couple of months, and will have a couple more before negotiations can get back on track to any serious level. So common sense would dictate that the minimum delay would be the same, at least the same, as the enforced pause in negotiations? Surely?

Then we have, of course, the new economic back drop from this virus. So maybe an interim arrangement where the UK is granted a temporary status similar to the European free trade association status is granted to allow things to be done smoothly over a couple of years.

Of course the minister for HIGNFY, POB, and the minister for the 19th century won’t consider such things. They must have a plan for the post EU period that is so cunning you can sharpen your hedge fund with it.
A new hope.

I see things on all sides, I am a miners son who works with millionaires. I just believe that the fairest route is normally something that most people can buy in to, and if you strayed out of Bowsa for a while you would realise that middle England in the south will never vote for a left wing extreme govt - so you can either support a protest party who says a lot and does little or you can grab the centre, appeal to those that will get you elected and then actually get to implement something.

I suspect some of the high and mighty in the Unions and Labour dont want power based on prior policies...
