If you want a link to the promise, here it is in his own sweet words’

https://metro.co.uk/...april-12500642/

Can’t find a link to him saying anything about ‘capacity for 100,000 tests’,............I’m sure they must be out there!

It's in line 1 mate. Try going a bit slower.

The UK will have the capacity to carry out 100,000 coronavirus tests per day by the end of April, Health Secretary Matt Hanckock has pledged.

That’s not a quote and he never said “capacity” in his announcement. Scroll further down to the short video of his statement and you hear it in his exact words.

Well worth a read https://www.medrxiv....8260v1.full.pdf

Apparently closing schools and banning mass gatherings have been the most effective control measures.

I actually said the season should be bookended, Ian. Left incomplete. And whilst I've a soft spot for Evo I honestly couldn't care less how ups and downs are decided.

As for the media thing it's been interesting to see even staunchly pro tory outlets expose some pretty hard hitting scandals. The Mail's list of fallen front line staff, the Sunday Times' SAGE revelations, the FT continuing to print death figures far higher than the governmemt's...

..hell, even Bozo's own 'Telegraph featured disgraceful PPE shortages.

But it looks like leopards are once again incapable of changing spots. And I've gotta wonder if a SKS who's proven extremely competent at PMQ's may, just possibly, have them rattled...

But if you were going to close it off would you go PPG or just point now. Its pretty obvious that only one has any sort of fairness...

The papers need cash. Circulation is down. Advertising is down so they need traffic to their stories to be up to be able to justify charging more in the future, they dont care who they aim at currently and no point having too much of a bash at Labour as they havent really done owt yet....

SKS will be competent but lacks charisma. BoJo proves that you dont need the former if you have the latter.... sadly, the electorate are easily swayed. Middle of the road common sense seems to be out of fashion, people think its funny, even on here!

Having spent the last 5 hours with GMs asking questions about our re-opening SOPs, where we thought we had covered pretty much every eventuality, and now I have pages and pages of queries to answer - and that is just 17 hotels. Trying to sort everything for an economy is virtually impossible - except in hindsight of course, for football fans!

No it's ok.
I recommend though that you send a strongly worded letter to the editor of Metro pointing out his reporter's gullibility.

Channel 4 news investigation details how medical equipment stockpiled was allowed to expire in the last 10 years.

It was truly shocking. Anybody who claims they are interested in the truth shouldn’t miss it on catchup. Of course the government weren’t available for comment

I guess C4 won’t be getting their share of BBC funding anytime soon.

I read earlier that 84% of care homes are privately owned, charging £700-£2000 a week, if true shouldn’t they procure their own PPE?

How many hours of dedication and self sacrifice did you have to put in to get as boring as you are. Bet you're a real bundle of fun at a party. Is Jimmy Durrante your favourite singer?

good argument, well expressed.

I am great fun at parties, they are normally with people who can see two sides to a coin and have a decent debate, sleep well.

PS never heard of Durrante but if you are really interested my favourite artists have always been The Stranglers, The Cure, Queen, and Simply Red (although he is better at music than politics or football teams)

No, they should be brought under the nations social security umbrella but everyone knows old and/or vulnerable people cost money to be cared for properly.

Would there have been more PPE if the system was different? Anyone’s guess but some people think they and their carers don’t matter and therein lies a possible answer

But... it’s a big old massive issue now isn’t it? So they have every right to report on it, don’t they? And it’s not their job to air that concern prior, is it?

Oooo so centrist I cant offer an opinion ooooo everything’s equal all the time oooo got to sort my hotel out ooo meetings and fire hazards oooo if only u worked on ur career as much as I do you’d be able to offer no opinion on anything just like me ooo I’m a centrist so I vote Lib Dem which achieves literally less than nothing ooo

That is pure bonkers

How is C4 supposed to know the nations stockpile of PPE procured in 2009 for Swine Flu has been reduced and/or has massively passed its expired date until it was actually needed.

Over to you Mr (not so) Impartial (but very snide)

Well just in case I’m accused of hindsight, may I place it on record that I’m concerned about the governments (and it’s backers in the media) mixed messaging regarding the shutdown.

I’ve been told today that from next week pubs will be open to serve food and beer outside. Is this misinformation?

I'm pretty sure C4 regularly reported public services being undermined and underfunded, Ian. Scandals in the increasingly privatised care sector. Nurses' bursaries and training courses cancelled. Doctors expected to do more for less amidst smears and lies. Teachers and firefighters experiencing the same. Infact all those now applauded every Thursday evening subject to sneering hostility.

Not to mention incompetence, lies and hypocrisy amongst characters now in government.

And yeah, I suppose they could've run a story on how the 'Cygnus' thing had been ignored or that the UK had withdrawn from pandemic prevention programmes, too. But by the criteria suggested by your mate in the media I guess there'd have been little or no interest. Or derided as 'remoaner handwringing' by those far more concerned with the colour of their passport and getting Big Ben to 'bong'.

As for a solution to next year's crisis, I'm gonna suggest Brexit be suspended until the economy stabilises. It's widely expected to tank this year taking at least another two to recover. So to impose what's also widely expected to be another huge blow for purely political purposes? A madness we've the time to foresee and avoid...
