I’d like to hear why you think people shouldn’t be allowed out to walk in parks or take their dog out. Could be a good this

If it wasn’t for getting out the house for exercise for an hour a day I think I’d have gone insane by now. Being couped up 24/7 is not fun and not good for your health. I’ve just finished my 7th week of this and the furthest I’ve been is for my 10k runs.

I’m working full time from home, got a 37 week pregnant girlfriend, and a house move that was meant to go through on 19th March to allow us to move back closer to family and friends that’s still not happened so forgive me if I want take a walk through a local park for an hour on my lunch break from work.

Quite how you’re comparing the tubes being open to a local park I don’t know, unless you’re living in a bubble.

No I’m fully behind people being allowed in pairs.
I’d go for a only partial lockdown.

The hypocrisy is that I got spoken to for training with another in a park and 2 Spurs players etc have been fined for it.

Putting aside the debate about whether the 100,000 target was met or fudged........

Can anyone explain to me why this 100,000 was an important target and not just some figure plucked out the air.

This 100,000 surely has to be tested again next week + 100,000 more to make any kind progress. Anyone care to calculate how many weeks It would take to reach 50% of the population at that rate? I have

It was made important as he said we’d do that many and the politicians and journalists became fixated with it. Bet he wished he’d never put a figure in it

As an engineer I suffered from artificial milestones/goals most of my career, imposed by idiots trying to make a name for themselves

You need at least one person to meet the goal for every one person actually doing the job that needs doing

I have zero regard or sympathy for him.

What's wrong with that?

Don't understand.
Are you saying if you post it on Sat or Sun the sample will deteriorate and be useless?

The issue is that I have been counted as one of the 122k tests today. I got two texts and two emails to tell me not to use the kit until next week. Also I didn't agree to take part in testing or request the kit but thousands of tests were sent yesterday on this basis. I will take the test as any testing will help build understanding. However I have been left with the feeling the tests were only sent yesterday to hit a target.

The swab has to be done within 72 hours of the lab testing it.

Any idea why the testing station at the stadium was once again quiet today, Pete?

Only ask given your connection to the Hub where it's based, but it was deserted monday dinner time and only had a security bloke there today tea time.

Nothing official but I am led to believe that initially expectations for numbers were low but even so only a third of the expected people were tested. I understand that numbers were considerably higher today but I haven't been near the stadium today.

You would go for partial lockdown based on what scientific evidence? or just it would suit you and your lifestyle better?

Genuinely interested why you think that would be the best solution?

Tbh a bit of both!
I have worked all through and have been very busy so quite profitable but would still want to get back to normal. A team I’m currently doing stuff with are back on Monday for team training (although a spaced out version).

I think people are pretty much being sensible about the lockdown - people are starting to get out and about as best they can but with certain self imposed measures in place (masks, social distancing etc).

Aren’t some hotels reopening? I see Hooiday InnExpress has been open

Very poor judgment by the Government on trying to manipulate the figures and thus score an own goal

Lots of hotels are open but are only being used to house key workers and the homeless.

Yep - and a few open for those with long term guests.
There’s one in Chelsea which has half long term guests and is open for them.

Claridges is open for senior NHS consultants - very nice too for them !

Thanks, Pete.

And thanks for giving us a first hand account of how the government have manipulated numbers.

Sadly there're those who'll continue to stick fingers in ears, squeeze eyes tight shut and ignore any amount of evidence like yours', though.

Infact you'll probably be accused of being some commie Corbyn-ite lefty bully boy trot before too long...

In regards to being the highest death rate in Europe this report on Sky News would suggest Italy arnt recoding all care home deaths in their 28,000 total. So lord knows what their total would be.
The mind would probably boggle if China's true total were ever revealed.

This is what they do. It’s what they’ve done throughout this whole debacle. Yet there are still bootlickers lining up to slobber on the Government’s toes. Repulsive.

That’s how the figures are reported as per the .GOV website love

If the figures were reported in a different way (tests with results in a lab for example] then Hancock could have given a target of 80000 and hit that instead.

He knew how the figures were collated and set his goal accordingly

Decent article that one.

Look at the death rate per million. Some countries stand out.

I was referencing Pete's first hand account - that's PERSONAL EXPERIENCE- of how his test was included but didn't actually happen.

But I can see how someone desperate to avoid the facts would miss that.

And in't it funny how folk who constantly accuse China of lying say word zero when Bozo's bunch are (yet again) caught red handed...

Fair point regarding our not knowing the full picture, pal.

I posted a reference to France including the whole lot but it's still unclear who replicates.

Hell, even our 'new' number only features those actually tested.

I don't think we should get sidetracked from main point, though (which was probably the intent all along): we have a government that had weeks to prepare - infact years given the utterly ignored 'Cygnus' thing - yet left both public and frontline staff vulnerable by it's complacent, maybe even arrogant negligence.

First, second, third or whatever in the table of tragedy - Bozo's bunch promised preparedness yet delivered deciet...
