Without the press or media where do you get your facts from?

By naming names in this case as opposed to anonymous source. The British press (infact press around the world) is more interested in sensationalism than reporting facts. One thing I have learned from all this is an understanding of why politicians (from all sides) avoid giving the press direct answers.

I'm confused.

China is quite rightly condemned for having a state controlled media that most probably underreported the pandemic. Yet when ours asks awkward questions or reveals what the government would prefer hidden it's somehow sensationalising it?

Perhaps someone can exp!ain...

But you don't believe the press or media. That being the case how do you know what they are saying is fact or fiction? So where are you going to get your facts from?

I think Laura K of the BBC is the worst political editor presented by the BBC for years, she's a dreadful reporter. She isn't asking awkward questions, she is asking questions we already know the answers to because she's asked them over and over again. I noticed SKS is taking the credit for pushing the Government into releasing info on the transition to the next stage next week.

I will point out again, I have no affiliation to any political party

How would you rate SKS so far?

Seems to be taking a very level headed approach, appreciates the difficulties and doesn’t seem to be using covid as a political football

Good signs going forward

Looking at your somewhat “footballification” approach, you can’t agree with the Labour leader can you?

James O’Brian’s show is fascinating listening atm

Caught the first hour or so.

Thought he made a terrific point about how the pro Bexit media would be reporting things had we done better than Europe. But of course we haven't, infact we're next to worst, so more Brits succumbing is somehow secondary to other stuff.

Then I've just seen Bozo up to his old tricks again. Peston quoted his government's disgraceful record only for the bloke who always meets scrutiny like a guilty schoolboy - saying anything to get himself off the hook knowing he can just deny it all later - spend five minutes waffling how we shouldn't compare death rates until, well, some unspecified point in the future. By when he hopes folk will've forgotten the worst of it and he can trot out some glib 'Got Codid done' style slogan instead.

And all those doctors and nurses and consultants and medics complaining about incompetence can be smeared as militant Marxists. As some on the Panorama programme already have. As even parents with kids on floors were during the election, too.

O'Brien is the anti-Farage. Which is just about the best compliment anyone can recieve...

I like what I’ve seen of SKS so far but taking the credit for the Government releasing the road map into phase two was ridiculous

I think we're both guilty of the 'footballification' O'Brien-ism, pal.

As said elsewhere I voted for SKS. Pleased you endorse that vote. I hope you and many millions more will replicate at the next election.

Personally I would love to come back to the fold but it's early days, there is more to the Labour Party than SKS. A lot need to be done to get me back.

What I'm saying is that unless facts are presented with a story, I struggle to believe the story.

However it always comes down to whether you believe the facts and story. That is a personal choice, it doesn't though make the facts or story actually true.

Surely a fact has to be true, otherwise it wouldn't be a fact.

The fact could be that the fact was actually a lie so it was never a fact in the first place and that could be the fact of the matter.

In fact there wasn't a fact until it was established that the fact wasnt a fact!

The fact is that unless you hear/see something for yourself then it can't be a fact just speculation and hearsay. Facts are overrated and untrustworthy.

Big difference, one is “a leak” with unknown motives and one is a quote.

One is more trust worthy than the other, and one will have a much less chance of being behind a hidden agenda. I agree with you 100 percent Mark
