What did you make of Cummings influence in the SAGE meeting, getting the pubs shut within two days of the meeting whilst the science seemed to be dithering?

Pretty much how you viewed his 'so what if a few pensioners die' quote, pal...

Initially reported in the TImes , from an anonymous source, a senior Tory. Then just about everywhere else of varying politicall hues. I'm amazed you missed it.

Unsurprisingly denied by Number 10. Hopefully he'll be asked about it directly during a select comitee or enquiry under oath.

I've heard it mentioned but never seen any evidence to back it up. As you have pointed out, there is no real evidence he did say it. Maybe someone with a grudge wanted to rock the boat, who knows.

I'm sure it will all come out in the wash.

You should know by now Mark, if the press say it about someone on the right, it must be true as they are paid by Tory supporters, but if it is said about the left it is categorically wrong as they are all liars.

The truth is of course that sensation sells - even for the Times these days. It may or may not be true - but as with all things I will try and make up my mind and not just believe the press....

I think you have to look at context. Given some of his activities such as hiring Andrew Sabisky, I know where I’d put my money.

One of Andrew’s ideas was to give kids drugs to improve their cognitive skills which has proved fatal

https://www.thetimes...quote-nwrk3tzx2

There are certain parallels between the Cumming’s alleged quote and Sabisky’s quotes. And for god’s sake don’t get Andrew started on race, forced sterilisation, women.......

It’s worth noting that he didn’t deny any of it when he resigned, just said it was old stuff

As others have said it was only reported by 'someone in the room', Mark.

Just as what our friend 'S&D' used as an endorsement was only reported by 'someone in the room'.

Which was kinda my point.

I'd once again point people to the first few pages on this thread to see who's called it right and who, well, I'll let folk decide for themselves...

The press isn’t the most reliable source for factual information. I’ve seen too many winters to believe everything I read. I’m more inclined to believe something if it’s backed up with facts. People tend to believe what backs up their own beliefs and nonchalantly dismiss anything not fitting their own political agenda.

That’s just the way it is.

That’s a roundabout way of saying there was no quote

When you put it quotation marks you can see where the confusion arose from

Which is just the same as you reporting what he was supposed to have said and done. At the end of the day you are having a Cummings love in and most others are not

I don’t read any news or press. I don’t believe a thing which is reported. I use my big 200IQ 4D chess-playing brain to pull strictly factual information from the cosmos which allows me to formulate my purely centrist opinions, because there are two sides to everything and they’re always exactly equal, and this allows me to sit on the fence smugly looking down at the fools who might lean to either side so I can let them know they’re *both* equally wrong. I don’t use people’s past actions to help me decide whether they are more likely to have done something or not done something. Nothing but factual info from the cosmos for me.

The government you defend had weeks more than many to prepare.

The government you defend then told the country they were well prepared.

The government you defend promised PPE was stockpiled, ordered, and being delivered.

Yet that same government now presides over the third worst death rate in the world. And rising.

All that's been reported by front line staff and responsible journalists. So you'll have to forgive me if your bigotries and hypocrisies pale into insignificance by comparison...

I think I've missed summat.

I've just seen staff at the care home nearest to Col Tom Moore's house link arms to sing Happy Birthday. None of them had arms 2 metres long.
