My morning run took me alongside roads trafficked in a pretty normal manner today. Folk going about their business in a pretty normal way, too. Okay, there were still socially distanced queues outside supermarkets and most shop were shut, but had I not known about Covid it could've been just a steady Monday morning.

Then I ran past the stadium. Where not a single person was in the testing station. No cars, no testers, no one being tested and no security overseeing it all. Nothing. So does this mean no one needs testing? No one's coming forward? No one's been invited, given the signs saying 'By Invite Only' (by the way, why the 'No Filming' signs when it's all open view anyway)?

Maybe it's just me but I'm sensing a relaxation. I see restrictions are being slowly lifted abroad whilst holiday firms are taking bookings again. There was a report from a rail union of it's members being advised to prepare for extra services, soon. My own company has been asking for a head count of available staff for mid-May.

Don't wanna appear crass here, yet though they'll not admit it I reckon the VE Day weekend is when the government will start - START - to lift the lockdown...

There are several strong pointers that the 'stay at home etc' message and the restrictions will be changed (refined) in the next week or so. It will be interesting whether the change will seek to remove the clear (but also contradicted by other rules) 'stay home' message to more of a permissive 'act responsibility' 'look after yourself and others' type mantra.

However the new slogan is crafted, it may signal a move away from a set of govt rules to an expectation that individuals will take sensible decisions to limit spread of the virus. Interesting times, if so.

Perhaps Cummings could get the Chief Scientific Advisor to tamper with the stats to make the situation seem worse, so that you and your pals conform. You know, a bit like what Campbell did.

So you're provoking a debate contrasting 'sexed up' WMD reports and Covid misinformation, Dave? Like adding individual gloves to numbers of PPE deliveries?

Hmmm, interesting.

Suggest you start by accepting that whilst there might be parallels between Campbell and Cummins he never attended SAGE or hired a eugenicist, summat you've yet to do...

You want me to attend SAGE or hire a eugenicist? I have no such ambitions.

I've an admission to make. I just thought I'd make mischief by expanding on Goku's wind up.

I've no idea whether Campbell attended a SAGE meeting and I don't care, although proof that he did would best be obtained by him denying it. Nevertheless, the scientific content of the dossier was immense and if he didn't attend a SAGE (or SAGE equivalent in those days), he should have.

Boris : There's a bloke called Goku who is running a binge in his garden. He has to be stopped or this behaviour will spread nationwide.
Cummings : Don't worry boss, I'll get the CSA to produce a graph showing that R is on the rise and is now greater than one. That way we can increase police presence all over and fine the bounders.
Boris : This could get you a Knighthood.
Get it on, bang the gong , get it on

Another real pearler on GMB this morning.

Government minister Victoria Atkins was challenged over the Panorama report highlighting failures to stockpile PPE. Infact Bozo's bunch actually downgraded Covid - that's DOWNGRADED THE DISEASE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE WORST PANDEMIC IN A CENTURY - in the middle of march so less effective gear could be used.

Just as they conveniently decided one use stuff could be multi-used when it ran out last week.

Well as usual she ducked and dodged and diverted. She hid behind the 'guided by science' mantra. And when asked about exercise Cygnus first denied knowledge, then said she knew of it but'd forgotten the name, then couldn't quote a single of it's recommendations, then said she wasn't qualified to comment 'cos it wasn't her department.

Before being reminded she was on the very home affairs committee addressing the report.

Oh, and all this a few days after Bozo's replacement Raab also 'failed to recollect' Cygnus's findings. Which he also refused to publish.

Apparently folk've been complaining to Ofcom about Morgan interviewing like this. Bizarre. He's an arrogant self promoting hypocrite, yet sometimes you need to fight fire with fire. Thankfully Ofcom agreed...

Another government minister sent on GMB like lambs to the slaughter..highly entertaining but mindblowing nonetheless. Their has been some absolute melts from both sides on their in recent weeks, you'd think their PAs or whatever would at least prep them with some of the basic info.

Well here're a 'thousand words': https://www.bbc.co.u...rammes/m000hr3y

And Bozo did his best Trump impersonation claiming his government's approach had been a 'success', yesterday.

But if that's how he describes this latest catalogue of incompetence - not to mention way more than twenty one thousand deaths - I'd hate to see what failure looks like...

In a perverse sense I give 'em credit.

They know what's coming yet're still professional - or perhaps arrogant - enough to put themselves forward.

But I see Alan Sugar's joined some half-assed 'Twitter' thing calling for journalists - from across the media spectrum, by the way - to go easy on the government. In the name of an unspecified 'national interest'.

Well I can't see anything more in the national interest than exposing incompetence and lies - especially when it's costing the lives of front line staff those incompetents and liars hypocritically applaud every Thursday.

And mark my words - it'll be the very same people accusing China of suppressing the facts that're advocating it here...

You only have to have a look at the pre-lockdown meltdown where it was everyone for themselves to see people can't be trusted to act responsibly. For once I agree with Boris (urgh) in that this is the most dangerous time and the lockdown needs to be kept in place. Last I looked testing wise there were 440,000 done and 144,000 of them had come back positive, that's nearly a third. Given 65 odd million people have not had a test, even if that sample size is not truly representitive and it's 20% on a countrywide scale, you could potentially be letting out over 10 million people who have or are carrying the virus. No amount of acting responsible is going to stop the virus from spreading like wildfire again if you do that.
If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything!
