Talking of trialists, can anyone name a player who had a successful career at CFC after first playing as a trialist? I can’t think of one, but I’m sure there will be a few. Was Tommy Lee a ‘trialist’?

Daniel Bramhill (previously Chesterfield academy, sold to Everton, now released)had a great game at Staveley on the left wing in the second half. Also Spyrou (Norwich City)looked an handful at Matlock.

I remember Aaron Downes and Peter Leven as trialists in games against Matlock.

Two French kids in the late 90s. looked part but- hey- in true CFC fashion - became injured and went back.

African midfielder played for us at Scarbro around early 00. Couldn't get a work permit.

I would have thought if he was still on trial he would have been involved at Matlock. Did he warm up?

He was, at home vs Sheff Wednesday, we either won or lost 1-0, he had a good game.

The best trialist I can remember was Honour Gombami. Remember watching him at Staveley (we scored 7 or 8) and he was amazing. Word was he was set to sign but for some iffy work permit issues or something.

I thought Spyrou looked as though he had ‘something’ about him....real handful up front & was constant willing to run at the defence

Bramhill looked good as well

Alan Goodall was a triallist alongside Tommy Lee and stayed for a couple of seasons, if I remember correctly.
It's nice to be able to Trust again.

Tom Curtis - Worksop Town away - Duncan and Randall in charge - I remember it well.
Tom was a good player - still at Loughborough and playing part-time I think.

Honour Gombani played at Scarborough, as did Barry Roche and Reuben Hazell, all trialists I think. Must have been around 2005. Only time at a game that I have ever caught the match ball.

He was a good player. Met him a couple of times down town on a night out. Always willing to talk and enjoyed speaking to supporters. Decent fella.

I remeber seeing him in the preseason game at Saltergate looked class.

Kovacs did well after a trial.
