Not sure where the desire to see Barry here comes from. A poor player who will be forgotten in a couple of years at the most

Will it really take as long as that?

I don't recall many singing his praises when we were in L2. I don't recall many sad faces when he was sent out on loan to Dover either.

So, after his return from not being wanted by a Dover team that improved after they stopped playing him, he did better as did the rest of the team under Shez.

I'm comfortable with the thought that Shez will bring in someone better.

As for Hollis, a one year deal makes sense, he improved as the season went on, was committed to the cause, and eventually formed a decent partnership with Evans. Initially, I was underwhelmed with his performances but by the end of the season began to think our avoiding relegation was dependant on two partnerships - Boden & Denton and Evans & Hollis - if the fullback/wingback positions are defensively improved upon we should be solid enough for the NL.

I'm happy with that. Mainly because I know it'll upset Spire Power. 😁

Got no problem with him being a squad player but hope Shez signs a better CB as first choice

Happy with a one year, big worry was that we'd be stuck with him in league 2. He's good enough for the conference but not good enough to press on in L2.

For me the big question is will it be a 2 or a 3?

You are optimistic - we have signed him for a year but he might not be up to the next level. Not sure that is an issue within 12 months...

Hence I think the 1 year deal is a sensible move, probably found his level in the conference. If we were to go up next season think we'd be looking to replace him.

Meant 2 or 3 centre backs.

Tbh I don’t think there’s too much difference between the top half of the NL and the bottom half of L2. If Hollis is an integral part of a promotion I’d be amazed if he wasn’t offered a new deal.

That used to be my sentiment too. However having watched for a whole season, I've been shocked how pee poor this league actually is. At times I have found it hard to believe that they are actually full time pro's who supposedly train each and every day

Not sure many teams at this level train every day.

Yes, but looking the L2 playoff final so far, that league isn’t too clever either

60 minutes in and there has been one moment of real quality

League 2 is still an awful standard, Can’t wait to be back in league 1.

Not sure where you have seen this “desire” to see Barry back?

Can’t believe McNulty is still doing it in L2

The turning circle of Hollis and just as slow. I guess he knows where to stand and knows how to head a ball though.

That's how I feel. National League is anti-football so much of the time, unlike L2 or the Evostik.

I thought he did ok once Shez steadied midfield up, the back 4 were a little less exposed. Hoping he makes it that they're hardly troubled at all next season.

My previous post on this subject should leave nobody in doubt about my thoughts on this matter but you have raised a good point there Dave.

Hollis was virtually ever present after his arrival and we are going to need regular starters if any consistency is to be found. The back three virtually went unchanged after Shez arrived and despite people's opinions we turned the corner as well as converting a negative goal difference into a positive one.

Next question - if Yarney becomes available could he become a useful addition to the squad?

I’d take Yarney if available - be interesting to see if we setup with three at the back. If so we will need someone to complement Evans and Hollis. If playing a straight back four will Hollis be as effective?
