I know its been said in other threads a brobably has its own topic but what an amazing job Gareth Southgate has done.

Hopefully we can win on Wednesday and set up a premier league final as croatia are beatable following their extra time effort.

If we dont though i think we will be favourites st the euro's in 2 years time as the squad gain tournement axperience together.

Southgate has done an amazing job, probably even bigger than amazing as he was only given 4 games then he did ok so everyone even myself though we had gone the safe option.

He's helped a whole nation fall back in love with football again hindsight is a wonderfull thing but would Alladyce have got rid of Hart and Rooney? Or just kept it as the same old boring stale team we were i believe he would have and qe wouldn't have got this far.

So as thd song goes

SOUTHGATE YOUR THE ONE, YOU STILL TURN ME ON, FOOTBALLS COMING HOME AGAIN. (to the tune of Atomic Kittens Whole again)

The Daily Telegraph need alot of praise for exposing Big Sam's dark side, the mind boggles at what would have been on offer with him in charge.
Derbyshire is Derbyshire
Yorkshire is Yorkshire

Never the twain shall meet.

I just think it would be no diffetent to what Hodgeson served at in his 3 tournements.

He wouldn't have brought a young squad to russia.

He will need to find some midfield players over the next 2 years.

I didn't want SA to get the job and was glad the dinosaur was sacked. That said, I thought GS didn't seem much of a leader though he has gone about his business quietly and effectively.

I absolutely did not want Southgate to get the job. Nothing really changed my mind in his first few games but towards the end of qualifying I started to warm to him. I thought the maximum we could achieve this summer was the quarters. The manager and these players are doing the country proud and will return to heroes welcomes whatever happens from here.

I’m proud to be an England fan again. Thank you Gareth.

Without wishing to undermine GS in any way, if we had drawn with Belgium we may not have got further than the quarters. But yer never know..

No he should not - He needs to win the Euros in two years time and then the WC again in 4 years time. And repeat.

Said this a few weeks ago after the Tunisia game... I was highly sceptical of the appointment of GS.... Even going back as far as perhaps a decade ago when it was clear he was being groomed to eventually take over the National Side when put in charge of the unders.

His time in charge of Middlesbrough did nothing to fill me with much confidence...

Well, I've ate a pie full of humble and have never been more pleased to have done so.

The way he conducts himself, his laid back demeanour amongst many other fantastic traits are a pleasure to witness. He's been with the majority of this group of players for many years now and it's oh so clear to see.

They 100% buy into his methods, they trust him and they believe in what he says. He doesn't build them up to be shot down, he is fiercely protective (See Sterling, and rightly B****Y so... He's been instrumental IMO) and I absolutely love it.

I've fell in love with England again this summer, I've fell in love with Southgate and whatever happens this next week... Mark my words, with GS in charge we will be lifting silverware in the next decade at regular intervals.
Mug?? Being wrong never gets boring!

No. They don't.
Newspapers have got to realise that entrapment is wrong. Granted. It seems to be working out for us at the moment but to set up people to sell papers is just low and for people to make assumptions on where we'd be now with different people in charge is ridiculous.
The fact is that Gareth Southgate is getting the best possible results he could've ever imagined out of this tournament and deserves his praise.

We've only done what we should have up until now. Wednesday, we can surpass it.

Really?
We in the World Cup semi finals.
His win percentage is probably the best in international football
He has ignited a pretty downtrodden bland football team

Jeez if we're forced to settle down now when can we get bare haps?

In the last two tournaments we only beat Wales and got knocked out of the Euros by Iceland. We are in a World Cup semi final for only the third time ever. I don’t care if we beat the dog and duck and clay cross town on route, this is as good as it gets and I for one will enjoy it.

On that basis, all the people who predicted negative things following the appointments of Saunders and Caldwell were being ridiculous!
