For years the Fa have sent out a team to analysts the Brazilians, Germans et al.
Even to Iceland.
Question now is how do nations like Iceland (population 340,000 (the size of 2 small London Boroughs) manage to compete (especially when their national sport is handball and closely followed by basketball. Their number of available playing age and sex is so very low)- high life expectancy etc.
What are they doing so right?
Similarly Croatia- population 4 million.
Emerging nation
They attend school from 7-1 each day and then sport takes over.
Each football coach has to qualify in strength and conditioning of some sort.
Most age groups from Croatia are highly ranked internationally also.
Club system closely linked to other sports - very much the multi-sport approach which we have gone against for many years.
I think the FA set up nowadys is good in terms of coach ed.
They got rid of a lot of older coaches and tutors on last couple of years (not necessarily a good thing) but age group results are looking promising.
The football DNA is obviously working.
Youth modules are good.
Not over reliant on fads like Futsal which is good
Future looks bright

All we need to do is keep doing what we are doing the problem is nowadays in football it has to be today now, lose 3 games a manager is rubbish and gets the sack. I know its a slow process but keep this squad together, find that little something that we make us better and we will be a team to fear again.
I was listening this morning to 5live and what they said is so true, last year against all the top Brazilian kids (if you can call under 17's that) to the Spanish, French, German who were the world champions? Under 20's again France's, Germany's Argentina's emerging talent or the same age who are world champioc? Us.
So yes a slow slow process but even I'm the most skeptical fan as an England fan but in Southgate I feel even though I didn't want him at the time like everyone else will deliver silverware soon starting at the Euro's in 2 year time.

Agree. We should have been atleast 2-0 at half time. Yes Kane should have squared it to Ali instead of shooting, but the confidence and selfishness of a striker meant he shot. You're right they were there for the beating but when we didn't go in 2 up they realised at half time that WE were there for the beating. Ultimately over 120 mins the best team ( on the night ) won.

Apparently something like one in every 7000 males in Iceland made their World Cup squad

But how many of those are between 18 and 35 and assuming a gender ratio of 50/50? But don’t encourage this lot, clinging onto to a rock in the North Atlantic
Seriously that some statistic
