A FA cup semi final rings a bell, now remind me what team we saw off in the quarters......

In answer to your question the old second division, but let's be fair you shouldn't even be in the English leagues

We were founder members of the third division north the same year as yourselves. We were elected to join, again like yourselves.

That was 2-4 in January 2005.

We lost 6-0 at home back in Sept 1976.

Had some cracking games with Wrexham, we lost 5-4 there in Dec 1992, I'm pretty certain I had that on tape on one of those Calendar goals round-up.

What a game that 5-4 was.

We didn't lose them all to Wrexham!

Remember going there on a Tuesday night and being four up at half time thanks to a Jack masterclass.

It just goes to show not many agree with 'Lindave'

I looked at Wrexham as our peers for many years and always thought, there for the grace of god goes us. Well his grace ran out but here's hoping we don't spend a decade or more in non league

I have a feeling that at one point in the 90s, in our history we had played Wrexham more often than any other club. Could be wrong.

I was there as well. Wasn't it a Friday night? Wasn't it 3-0 after about 15 minutes?

Given a level playing field CFC have the fan base and facilities to more than challenge for a rapid return.

However I doubt that'll ever be the case under the current regime.

I don't know the politics behind Wrexham's protracted stay in non-league but yeah, at face value they're a sobering example of what our future could look like without a credible takeover...

In 2004 chairman Alex Hamilton sold the ground to a company owned by himself, gave Wrexham notice to quit so he could redevelop the ground . If memory serves the town council., had to get involved to stop it

That's correct, I was just remembering the same thing.

Only 5 subs next season can be named as well... The need for a smaller squad?

Hamilton was just one of a long line of shysters who saw the Racecourse as a money making machine though not through the football, but was seen off by a determined fan base. The land around it was very lucrative with the necessary planning permission. This was obtained a few years later by another so called “knight in shining armour” The club lost ownership of the ground, the state of the art training facility almost overnight. Shafted big big time and the local council played a big part in it, the dumb f*cks.

Thanks for the clarification, knew I'd read about it albeit quite some time ago .guess we're all a tempting target if the value of the land exceeds the football club.

The only other time I went to Wrexham it was absolutely scorching hot and it finished 0-0. First game of the season I think, the one we didn't win till about November. 2003 without checking?
