I actually would be happy with Jack Lester, if he was brave enough to take it on!

He holds a lot more respect than any ex players you could think (Danny Wilson included)... he would know the risks, & if he took it he must be cock sure he will have the confidence to take it on......

Easy option....Steve Cotterill

High Risk option...Kevin Davies (but fair play, he is refreshingly desperate to take on the challenge & coaching role would be great if not the manager)

Good option... jack Lester!! Learning his trade the right way & earning rave reviews....I think he would get all the supporters on side!! You could imagine Jack going mental with players after they score in turn getting supporters mental...let's be fair....you could guarantee a better win ration than 10%

For me, it's one of those three......unless Paul Cook walked out on Wigan for better club

good thoughts on the subject waller. i'm warming to the idea, I think the reservation is based on the Wilson (ex-hero) experience and combine that with the fact that for 2 and a half years we have just come to expect the worst all the time and don't want that to happen to jack. lester is a strong character and I don't think in all my years of watching town I've ever seen a player who had so much belief in himself. i'll say this too if it was a straight choice between him and kev davies, I would go for jack.

Might be unrealistic, but would they do it together?

Jack who managed without an agent I think throughout his career has his head screwed on and would ensure the conditions for taking the job woild be right, I think the time is right to approach him. He won't apply because he's under contract but I'd say his attendance at Saturdays game was dropping a hint.

As for Davies he needs to take a leaf out of Jack's book and get coaching the kids for a couple of years to hone his skills and build a reputation.

I think any manager would want someone they knew very well to be number two

He is what you call a underdog, massive underdog. In all seriousness think his days are numbered in top 2 divisions so would not be surprised if mcclaren applied

In these days of remote working, let's buy Arry a laptop and some headphones and he can do the job in a deckchair in his garden in Sandbanks, with Kev fetching the drinks instead of having to drive all night. We could pay Arry's dog, and then Arry could get a ghost writer to release a book about it. Also, he would never ask what wages players are on as he never gets involved in that sort of stuff.

Come on guys - these odds are only a reflection of bets placed, at this stage only Carson knows who has applied so bookies are only reacting to bets placed.

Not that I am suggesting he would, but what is to stop Carson using an intermediary to place a large bet on the person they choose? Nowt, I suppose......

Bookies security (they'd phone off anything over £100 to check if they can accept it. They'd probably agree to accept a very large bet at slightly reduced odds and then lay it off) and Carson's own ethics of course
