Sinnott and Reed.

I thought Reed looked class in the Rotherham pre season friendly. Seemed to skip through tackles. From the League matches I have seen, he's currently out of his depth, yet to beat a man and carry the ball forward, caught in possession too many times. Due a rest tomorrow.

Is there that much of a difference from league games we've seen this season?

IF so, we've improved in quality in this area, and dropped a league, therefore should be doing better than we are.

26 games is more than enough time. He's rammel, his tactics are, his signings have been, his ability to rub everyone up the wrong way is. Lose tomorrow and he needs to go. Anything else and we are risking our FL status which would pretty much be the end for this club.

Too many people with head in sand not seeing the bigger picture. Would be a disaster to keep caldwell with this record, as we will be in another relegation dogfight, this time with a lot more importance than ones we've previously faced

You've got your head in the sand chief.

Rightly or wrongly, we've let GC assemble a full squad and backroom staff. And you want to sack him, presumably his staff, and get a new guy in who'll want new players in January. After 5 league games!?

Chris Wilder had a similar record after 4 games last year, the morlocks are favourites for this division and have 2 more points than us. Way too early imo.

And...back in the room, we have signed a player let go by Colchester and a lad who is deeemd surplus to immediate requirement at Shrewsbury Town. Both must be a bit away from full fitness.

I am an active critic of Caldwell, but you have to think that's all he's been told we can afford. Maybe it comes off, but it's going to be some turnaround if these players form the basis of a winning run.

It's my club, so I hope something positive can happen tomorrow, with or without the new signings (bearing in mind their likely level of fitness). But it's only hope I carry, not conviction.

As do we all.

And good post, by the way.

The bigger picture to me is that if Carson wanted a manager who could build a side from the discount shelves he should've recruited one. However he appointed a Gary Caldwell who though winning a title - an achievement many other big spending managers have admittedly failed to match - did so with by far the largest budget in his division.

GC has since had three opportunities to get it right at Town: January, last summer and now a final flurry of signings. Three strikes and out?

Spot on.

Whether he's gonna do a Wilder or Saunders, 4 games is way too early to sack a manager.

Well here's a question: does allowing Caldwell to sign so many players mean Carson's standing by him? Or is it just a last, desperate attempt to prop-up a manager who'll cost another huge amount to sack.

I'd say anything but four points from the next two should see a change.

Which raises another question: is it beyond question senior pro's might want him out?

Two good points. 1. Probably.
2. Probably not initially but now who nows? The likes of evo and Hird which may have welcomed his arrival at first may now be thinking he's not got a clue.

Give over mate. The club threw the towel in last season, not Caldwell.

I'm by no means convinced he's the right man, but he should be judged on this season imo.

And how do we judge him so far after four games, any different to the previous 21 games. As it got better this season from the end of last season?

Against Grimsby, Vale and Bradford we played some good football, but not for 90mins.There have been some good signs, not many that we could pull our season around if GC stopped being so stubborn persisting with his boring tactics and sometimes strange team selections. Against Bradford, we played some high tempo stuff pushing forward with pace, but I don't know what happened in the 2nd half.

I think the most accurate description is that they were players Caldwell was prepared to give a trial to, at no cost other than board and lodgings.

On reflection lets hope not but this is Caldwells last chance with the signings he has just made

Lol.
I'd be surprised if the whole job lot has cost as much as O'Grady earns but we must surely be miles under budget compared to last year. Ashley will be able to count on another bumper crowd tomorrow to boost his 5k planning charts.
That's if our computer man has been able to overcome the Coventry ticketing problem.

How does the side look without the ball?
