I honestly don't get this players can't play in certain positions, they are professional footballers.

Strikers are paid to score goals. Not sit out wide and run a wing, plus then with our formation he has to be on defensive duty as well. Otherwise Wiseman has no protection whatsoever. I honestly can't get why managers shoehorn players into a side in positions they can't play. Promising English youngest are getting ruined by been asked to play 3 or 4 different positions and not the one they like. It's simple, play him where he is best, and thats not on the wing.

Got into a twitter debate yesterday with two blokes who wanted to try O'Grady in CM and then potentially in the number 10 role.
Turned it off for the day after that

No manager in CFC's history has turned over the volume of players he has. It must be more than one a week. The new Steve Evans?

It will certainly be interesting to see what team and formation Caldwell plays tomorrow

One thing for certain is Coventry will have no idea either as it will be the first time the starting X1 will have played together

Sometimes it works sometimes it doesnt

How about a total change in formation like this :

Lee

Wiseman Hird Jules Briggs

Brewster Rowley Weir Flores

De-Girolamo Dennis

I'm sure Mark Jules will be flattered but he's a bit old now lol

To clarify,a forward should be able to play up front,a midfielder across the middle,a defender across the back,I may be being a bit simplistic but I do think football is over complicated at times.

Allott on left wing and Darikwa CB then.

Dont talk absolute nonsense, there's enough on this board as it is.

In an ideal world yes, but come on imagine Evo playing full back against some pacey wingers. If you want a player to play every position, you usually end up with a Donahue esque player. Great work rate and will 'do a job' in the position you've put him in. But in my opinion you never get much quality from a player who never gets used to his position.

Evo is to slow in his own position 😞,i take your point, probably premier league players can adapt better as they are superior players.

in a way this overhaul of players late into the window buys Caldwell a bit more time, as he can (even if he shouldn't) use the excuse that it will take time for the new players to settle in. i think our fans generally have been pretty patient considering the dreadful record he has brought in terms of results and i do think had we lost tomorrow without the new players coming in, people would have been asking for his head, now perhaps once again he has bought himself a stay of execution. I genuinely hope he turns it around cos that means we're doing well, i just think we have a few more downs to get before we reach the ups (if we ever reach the ups again)

So much for starting pre-season early for the team to gel.

Still think we need a midfield spoiler, maybe Hird will do it as a stopgap

But is it Caldwell or Branston 'bringing in' these players?

GB's official position is 'Head of Recruitment and Development' and spoke at length about his supposed contacts at a recent fans' forum.

Therefore it's surely his job to supply the Manager with a succession of possible recruits.

Or does Caldwell himself cover hundreds of miles per month watching and assessing targets? And if so what's the point of Branston?

Either way I suspect it'll be the Scot's career that ends or extends depending upon how signings like Briggs perform (by the way, does anyone know why his recent trial at Lincoln didn't work out?).

It's a tight knit trio, with Ashley in charge coordinating, suggesting, probing, recommending, innovating, pushing. That's how I imagine it any how, with Seb Coe taking minutes .........

Biggs and Jules (motm) both look good solid signings.

Yep. It's nice to see so many left footers.

I'd have given MOM to Tommy. He made that early high catch and went on from there.
