Being a club chaplain is a job both sexes could do equally well.

now given the physical differences between a man and a woman it would be very rare to find a woman who would compete to the standard needed in the football league.

My point that was lost on you was that the church is misogynistic.

I think 'very rare' is an understatement given it's never happened (if it's even allowed).

Just FYI the club, as do most clubs, has an official club chaplin.

Another anachronism that belongs to the past.

Just because you're a christian (presumably) doesn't mean everyone is... That's the point surely. And if you can't understand why religion is controversial well that really does deserve an FFS!

The only people i know who claim to be Christians are the most "unchristian" people I have ever come across in my life. Wouldn't lift a finger to help anyone else and would throw their grandmother under a bus to save themselves.

well they said there would never be females in the army but we now have women proudly serving on the front line and sadly dying for their country.

I think we will see females plying their trade in football league long before we see a female pope.

Yet another publicity opportunity gone amiss for those clueless imbeciles at CFC...

(from the Guardian app)

Bonnie Tyler...

... will be performing her song Total Eclipse of the Heart during the total eclipse of the sun.

Tyler will be doing so on a Royal Caribbean ‘eclipse cruise’. The cruise liner’s press department is not underselling the experience: “Royal Caribbean’s Oasis of the Seas will be the only place on earth where you can see songstress Bonnie Tyler and DNCE perform a never-before-heard duet of the iconic 80s power ballad Total Eclipse of the Heart.”

It gets worse! Its enough to have to put up with footballers demonstrating their gullibility by crossing themselves etc without the clubs becoming actively sectarian too.

Actively sectarian? In what way? Last time I looked Protestants and Catholics both shared the same scripture. And any rational thinking follower of any Faith is not put out by the existence of any other.
You're confusing Faith with Religious Fanaticism - two very different things.
Town has at least two Christians in the first team but if we also have followers of other Faiths, I have no problem with them receiving similar offers from other religious organisations.
For those with no Faith or beliefs of alternative structures, they're more than welcome to give their copy to someone who might appreciate it more.

And if you're unfortunate enough to be subjected to the cacophony, there's always a copy of Gideons Bible in your bedside drawer that you could rip a couple of pages out and stuff in your ears.

I meet thousands of people just not many Christians. Of the handsful I know, half of them appear to have been converted just before they wanted their kids to get into the Catholic school with the good exam results. Call me a cycnic

Another anachronism that belongs to the past.

Anyone who knows me realises I am not just atheist but actively anti-theist.

I would not have accepted the Gideon offer but of course I do have one for the heritage collection.

My role in the Memorial Garden means I oversee almost all of the ashes ceremonies and many of the official functions. This means I have worked with several local ministers and have even sourced the right ones for families. When I lead a ceremony I start from a secular angle but if a family wanted a prayer or reading i would facilitate this even if it wasn't me saying the words.

Some of this has involved me working with Paul and Wolfie who are the Club Chaplains. They tend to be about an inclusive role rather than pushing scripture. I have also met Matt Baker who oversees all the EFL Chaplains. There is a wider role about supporting players and staff but currently it is a christian based initiative. However the role is supposed to support those of any faith as well as none. Matt said that they were now supporting orthodox and none Anglican Christians as well as many Muslims as football and society changed.
