I didn't realise this was yet another Kookaburra trial. No wonder the pitch looks so benign.

You'll be telling me Queens Park has one of these hybrid pitches next.

Must be part of the master plan to kill off the 4 day game

It is one of the those hybrid pitches. Certainly the bloke who plays for Chesterfield CC and was telling all and sundry in earshot the other day thinks so anyway.

On the plus side it’s raining.

It is. Bleeding ridiculous idea, amongst many by the people destroying county cricket.

I think the theory is it gets our bowlers used to using it if they were part of an ashes tour and it seems Rob Key is a big fan of the trial so i suspect its going to stay.

Yes, I think that is right. That's the theory. The overwhelming majority of county bowlers will never get within several continents of the Ashes. And I think it's only 2 games with the Kookaburra isn't it? Total fudge.

Pretty sure there are a couple of pitches in the middle of the square that are Derbyshire only, looked after by the Derbyshire ground staff and not used or touched in anyway by Chesterfield CC\whoever does the other wickets which i think is the council. Think it was part of the setup when county cricket returned a few years ago along with a decent investment in sorting the changing rooms which were a state previously.

Just rode through the park on my way to work and there were numerous groundsmen type folk playing with the various covers all over the square. Sadly the forecast is for it to clear up with no more rain and be pretty sunny from lunchtime onwards. Sure it'll be fine trying to bat all day with 7 wickets left and the opposition having one of the best bowlers of all time!

I thought you could see time had caught up with him a bit yesterday. Still excellent, still bowled some jaffas, but a few half volleys in there, more legside to left handers than he would have been in his prime.

You can. Anderson gets hit for consecutive fours and he gets a change of ball and is there to select the one he wants. I thought the rules had changed to stop that happening.

Fair play to him playing county cricket but it is time he mounted the Sky Gravy Train

exactly from being 51 for 1 and looking as comfortable as a derbyshire batting display could be lol we suddenly lost 2 wickets in quick time after the ball was changed but the umpires are going to let SIR Jimmy Anderson do as he pleases arent they lol

Also will someone please tell the Lancashre stumper that every time he catches the ball it is not going to be a catch behind and when the ball hits a batsmans pads it is not going to be an lbw decision in their favour

I guess its all part of putting pressure on the umpires to wear them down over the course of the match and i think it might have worked when Came was caught down the leg side in the first innings he didnt look very pleased with the decision at all

Balancing it out Jennings didnt seem overly impressed with his second innings dismissal either when given caught behind.
