Derbyshire have finally won a 4 day County Championship match at home for the first time in 1803 days or 5 years in old money lol

They beat Glamorgan by 10 wickets just before lunch yesterday wanting just 27 for victory

Its not quite Queen Victoria was still on the throne when we last won at home but it B***dy feels like it lol

It is I think a little late to push for promotion this season though

Yes. I made a point of watching it on the stream, or should I say savouring it. Sussex at Hove next up.

Good to see us finally get a win in...i managed to tune in on Youtube from next to the pool in France to see us getting the final 8/9 runs from the less than threatening bowling of Sam Northeast!

Absolute madness to put Sussex into bat on a sunny morning in Hove

Didnt they realise it would be a bit different to a seamer friendly first morning at derby when we skittled glamorgan lol

Not good for Gloucestershire having their game abandoned on day one over player safety

I wouldn't trust him to do that with his track record.

Did I read somewhere that the Derby pitch was a drop-in. Is that Derbyshire trying to address the flaccid track the County Ground has become?

What another abysmal performance. Lose 5 for 15. No application what so ever. County league standard at best.

Let them off the hook in their innings as well.

Losing is a contagion and DCCC have had it for years and years. From Kim Barnett to Wayne Madsen - they and others, as players deserve better from a sad excuse of a county team.

Whenever we seem to be making some strides forward we seem to end up getting in a rut again. Not sure what the answer is and it doesn?t help with the imbalance in county cricket that sees bigger counties hoovering up any decent talent smaller counties have coming through.

Derbyshire were twice on top in that game. Once when Northant were 89-6 but we couldn't press on and again, in our first innings, at 81-1 chasing 219. Twice we lost grip and you just knew Derbyshire would collapse in the second innings even with some rain taking time out of the game. They've shown glimpses at times this season but we lack two or three quality players that could make a difference in term of consistency. If only we could find some investment.

Whilst commercially they get a lot right, albeit sustained by concerts and T20, on the pitch they have been poor for years and years, other than one brief stay in Division One.
