Great stadium but I don't think too much of it as a football ground. I'd like to go for myself (ideally watching us in the FA Cup) but the sight lines and distances look pretty poor.

Looks like a cross between an athletics and a football stadium for some reason

You should go and ask that question to Boris and Cameron who ensured a nice little Tory carve up of the whole site.
God I hate this league.

It didn't look really right did it?
Strange because I've done the Etihad at Manchester and that sits really well as a football stadium.

west hams ground seems more like don valley than the Etihad.
the seating looks like its at a shallow angle.

Etihad was converted properly as it was always just a footy stadium post commonwealth games use. The Olympic stadium has been done with temp seating over the athletics track as it will still host athletics. The world championships are there next year for example.

I believe Westham have sold some tickets for today's game and no seats have been put in yet for these tickets sold, therefore supporters sitting on concrete. Seen some photos on social media.

Apparently West Ham have told them it ain't their problem as though they've sold them the ticket they don't own it!

Watching again on MOTD 2 what might be acceptable on a lovely August afternoon might be a different prospect when the wind blows around the open bowl on a cold biting February night.

It looks a right shiitheap. Yep, sitelines and distances clearly awful even from the telly and as conducive to a good atmosphere as a whist drive in an airport departure lounge.
West Ham's old ground was great. This place looks like a chapter in "Football Grounds I Wouldn't Gas Rats In."

It's a beautiful stadium.
Bit like Stade de France for sight lines.
But strange with the 'temporary' stands when you first see them from the back but very decent to watch football.
Much better than Etihad and even Wembley (compared to Wembley's higher tier seats

Bit unfair to compare the Olympic Stadium with the Etihad... the Etihad was always planned to house City after the Commonwealth Games and the lower tier was constructed after the games finished to complete the conversion of it. The conversion of the Olympic Stadium isn't finished yet so we may be a bit premature in criticising it...i agree it does not look like an ideal football ground at the moment though.

I went there for the rugby world cup and was impressed by the atmosphere and feel of it on a match day. The views were decent (I was in an upper corner). Going for football on the 10th so will see what it's like for football, but the rugby changed my view of it as a sports host.

Well it was a like a morgue yesterday as commented on by the media and the Boremuff fans (and that is bad!). Might be down to West Ham finding 20000+ new fans

The the corners seemed to be nearest the pitch by a considerable distance
