Obviously and the rule is, if you've got the money, you get a different kind of justice (or injutice)

 I'm just gobsmacked, guilty or not guilty, that Evans and his associates hadn't paid the girl off to avoid all this.Would have saved him in the long run both financially and career wise. Not saying I agree with it but still surprised it hadn't occurred.

As has been said before she gave her statement to the police, they persued it and amassed enough evidence for the CPS to prosecute him.

She would have to changed her initial statement, so I don't tink that was ever on the cards

Remember he never spoke to her, trying to pay her off after she had made a statement would probably have ended in a longer sentence and no retrial

2.15pm

Due to resume at 2pm, court room still locked though

for anyone on twitter, Leon Knight is having a proper rant about the whole case:

Even some full time barristers are thick as pudding, lord knows how they qualify.

If you think that, you should let one of them cross-examine you. You might soon have a very different opinion. Oh, and I have had many years of experience to support my view!

Scummy little ex-footballer. Probably has a lot of knowledge on the subject.

Hmmm, maybe she wasn't buyable? We (women) don't all have a price, you know.

Leon Knight is the last person I'd ever listen to about a rape case. I unfollowed him because of his constant disrespect towards women and his general U intelligence. He has the mind of a 14 year old boy.

Please, no cringe-worthy "justice was done" stuff

Can we just move on?

DA must be rubbing his hands all the way to the bank. A shrewd if not immoral gamble paid off.

I'm no legal eagle. Don't need to be to point out the glaringly obvious. 500k at the expense of the taxpayer is still 500k at the expense of the taxpayer. Not to mention plenty more than that in costs and administration. Heads should roll. My point stands.

Still, if it let's a load of two-bit pitchfork wielding moralisers such as yourself have a good rant then i suppose it's worth every penny eh!?

*You might want to look up the definition of sycophant as well.

Indeed. Someone at the CPS should pay a very high price imo.

No winners in this grubby little case, thankfully should now be all over.
